Sean, I drove the Lotus as well.
It's fun enough to make me want one for track days but the F1 is so different.

F1 in december...
Hmm never seen a F1 with snow chains. That might be fun... :-)

Wow, that's sounds great. I'll definitely be trying to schedule something for next spring or summer. I'll be headed to DK in December, but there is obviously nothing planned in the winter. Did you get to take the Formula Lotus out on the track, too? There is also an experience in the Lotus in Silkeborg, DK that I was considering, since that is very close to where I visit.

Tack saa mycket
Sean

Hi Sean.
That's the event, even if some details are not correct.

Check Rajamkis web page: http://rajamaki.racing.start.at/

This was a fantastic experience with a race proven car. I tried to drive it on my limit as far as I could which resulted in two spins. I'm glad for that because that, at least, prove that I was trying to drive it as a it should be driven, even if I was not even close to the limit in the carousell(?).

Recommended brake point was at 150 m on the long straight, I braked at 80 m which was a handfull to manage. Maximum braking and three downshifts which resulted in a spinn while turning in to the hairpin.

Never accelerate unless the wheels are 100% straight. But that not the way to drive it. So next spinn was in the hairpin due to too much power on.

I also managed to save the car at few occasions when I drove it over the limit and almost lost it. I'm particular proud of that since it's almost impossible to do.

There is a rain warranty. If it rains on your day you can come back for a few warm-up laps in the Formula Lotus and then do your 8 laps in the Arrows. This might cause some problem if you don't come to Sweden so often. Even if this summer was very sunny it DO rain in sweden. And if I know Mr. Murphy...

The original engine is made of unobtanium and was leased by the team from the engine supplier. Now there is a Cosworth Formula 3000 engine which has been tuned to be more user friendly.

Arrows FA 16 - F1 (my notes)
Acceleration: 0-200 km/h 5 sec (it's 6 s)
Topspeed 330 km/h (260-270 at Anderstorp, Short track)
Weight: 520 kg
Motor: 3 litre Judd V8 (F3000)
Power: 500 hp a 9000 r.p.m (Max 520 bhp, rev limit at 9800 rpm)
Gearbox: 6 speed (Sequencial)
Chassie: Monocoque, 1 person (really...)
Brakes: Carbon fibre from Bremo.

Hi Peter, I read about the F1 driving experience at Anderstorp in Bil Magasine in DK and it seemed reasonably priced. What did you think of the whole experience? Was it worth the money? I go to DK usually twice a year, and was really considering going to Sweden to do this. Any info would be appreciated.
Thanks

can you imagine what its like to drive the current cars. It probably isnt fun because its so terrifying. F1 drivers probably take corners at 170+ that i wouldnt take at 60.

Yes.

Drove Morbidellis Footwork Arrows FA15 from -95 in august this year at Anderstorp.

It's very hard to describe this experience but acceleration from 0-200 km/h (125 mph) in 6 seconds and braking from 270 km/h (170 mph) at 80 meters (85 yards) mark when diving into a hair pin with maximum downforce says a lot.

Ciao
Peter

Actually I drove a AGS F1 in Le Luc (South of France, near St. Tropez):

http://www.formel-1-fahren.de/

It cost me about $ 2k for 5 laps around the track. Before that we did about 20 laps in a F3. The F1 was sequential, manual gearbox and had a Cosworth. It was really unbelievably cool. I was the only participant with a tiny bit of racing experience as I did a Skip Barber school beforehand. That helped, especially with the shifting (double clutch and bleeping on downshifts), but wasn't that necessary. Other people did just fine too.

BTW: About a month later I got to drive a replica CART at the Chicago Speedway and it was interesting to compare the two experiences.

Dave - with who & where ? - I did mine at Magny Cours with F1 Experience via a UK organisation whose name I've already forgot - brings loads of cash if you are tempted by extra laps - I was but did not in hte end as my brain was already in overload

The car I'm on about is a single seater in France, not twin seater in UK!

Najib, thats exactly right, its advertised in the UK as a days course working up through the types, culminating in a few genuine F1 car laps (2000 year spec).

When reckoning the running cost of such cars 1000 ukp sounds pretty damn cheap to me. In any case, what would that buy or pay for in a F road car...next to bugger all!

Dave, I hear in the UK they are offering a day (lecture, driving etc.) in the twin seater for 1,000pds. Kind of pricey, what?!!

All being well I should be driving one next year for my 40th B'day present (a driving experience not the car!)

Other than being a single seater I suspect a Formula Ford is nothing even approaching a F1 experience

I drove a 93 Larrousse F1 in France last year - Cosworth HB engine - the hardest part was going quickly enough to keep the hydraulic pressure high enough to be able to change gear - awesome experience - I woudl love now to drive a real F1 - DFV & Hewland

i sat in the senna john players special a couple of years back. i was quite surprised by how small the cockpit is. there is not much room alotted for the driver. my shoulders were to broad for the car and i could hardly fit.

Just thought it would be interesting to here comments on the driving experience, whether it be vintage or more modern.
