FCA ran a great event. I had a lot of fun giving rides. The track was cold both days and I couldn't get any heat in my brakes. They were sqeaking badly under braking and I finally taped up the brake ducts to get them hot. I also went about a day too far on the tires but it was fun to drive with no grip and work on car control and slide the thing through the turns.
It was especially nice seeing Dermot's beautiful Jaguar C Type. What a car! It would be easy to have that car in a museum somewhere but it was nice to see that it is driven properly.
Also was nice to put a few names with faces. Nice meeting Marq, Dermot, Dominic, Carl, and Michael and seeing some old faces, Paul P., Becker, Bob G., Peter U, and Tom C. Sorry if I have forgotten anyone.
Good mix of cars including 355's, 360's, 348/355/360 Challenge cars, 308's, TR's, Bob G.'s mini NASCAR truck, Porsches, BMW's and some mean looking Corvette's with big wings. Only mishap of the weekend was a 360 C going off between 9 and 10 and ending up in the trees. Driver was fine and it looked worse than it was as the only damage was the front bumper and the radiator.
FYI: sign up now for rides at the next FCA event. $10,000 deposit required and there is a 4 year wait. A few extra dollars and bumps you up the list or if you are a past passenger you get priority. Spots are being sold in the secondary market for 100% over list. Oh shoot......that was before the DOT.COM bust. Darn! |

Jon's car is LOUD ! nice nice. Jon passed Becker and I down the straight into turn 1 and wow, my head is still rumbling. I wish I had a video camera to capture that one.
I was there with my 328 on Saturday, but didn't run the circuit. Sunday is when I met Becker. Next time, I'd like to meet more of you folks here on FerrariChat - I've been on FerrariList for 5 years, and didn't realize the cool folks here.
This year, attendance was less than half of last year huh? no F40s, less 360challenge.. but still exciting..
I was able to take some pics.. Becker will probably post.. stay tuned..

Great event. First time I have been to a FCA event at Summit Point. What a collection of cars, especially Ferraris.
Special thanks to David S. for the ride in his 328 and making me aware of Ferrari chat. The highlight was a ride in John Kofod's 355 Challenge. I am still in total awe of the sheer speed of that car and the tremendous braking power (not to mention John's driving talent). He passed everything in the red run group including half a dozen 360 Challenge cars. What a blast to hit 150 + down the straight.
Thanks again to John and Dave and the Ferrari or Washington crew for taking the time to talk with a prospective Ferrari owner.

Talk about a cool time!! Thanks to Richard, David, Beckar and John for the fun. It was great to meet you guys and I look forward to the future events. As a prospective owner it was nice to meet people who were interested in my questions and truly are "afficionadi" of Ferrari. The ride with John in his 355 Challenge car was awesome. I got to feel the real potential and how these cars were meant to be driven. I CAN'T WAIT!!!! Many thanks again and I look forward to spring. It was a great end to the racing year for me.

Weather is calling for rain both days so we will see how it goes. I am driving Jim Mill's Panoz GTS (the one you took for a drive last year) for a session. Jim races in SCCA in GT1 with the Panoz and also races Spec Racer Fords. I am letting him take a few laps in the 355 C to compare.

Marq and Dominic, I put your names on a list at the front gate so you should have no problem getting in. I am in a 355 Challenge (red w/ yellow bumpers either #23 or #123 if they make me add a number).
Look forward to seeing all the Ferrarichatters there.

Dominic, I've gone to several of their events in the past and was not a member of the FCA at that time. Never had any trouble getting into Summit Point. Usually just pull up to the gate, tell the guy you're there for the Ferrari Club Event, and he waves ya through...Should be okay tomorrow/Sunday.

Jon, no it's not mine, but belongs to a good friend. We're coming up together on Saturday and he plans to drive the Jag. I'll be glad to introduce you. Yes, he was up at the FoW event last month; I couldn't make it.

I am attending college about three hours away, but live in the area. I am considering taking a trip home to watch the event. Do you think it will be open to the public? It was last year, but Ferrari of Washington supposedly closed their last track event to the public. Do you have any info regarding this? |

Beckar, Pino, Greg O., William, any other F-Chatter's planning on going? I know Paul P. is going to be there and I think Matt K. is attending, anyone else?
Should be a good event to wrap up the FCA season. At least one, possibly two 333SP's, may show up (if they actually run is a different story).
