Dan, I was in Mobile this past weekend at my inlaws with my 84 308. I'll let you know next time we come over from New Orleans I'd love to see a carb'd 308.

I live in the Mobile area. I did not get a chance to go to any of the other events last week. I had a good time cruising but as the night got later, the cops really became sphincters. We decided that they were harassing people too much and we left. It really put a damper on things. Other than that we had a good time. Would have enjoyed seeing more Ferrari's there.

I came in from Birmingham, AL, since that is where I have been working lately. But, we have family in Biloxi / Gulfport, so we have a free place to stay.

It's funny you posted about being there Dan, because I was going to ask if the 308 I saw was anybody's. I know now!

Thanks Dan, good to know how to tell. Some of the Kit car guys spend so much time and money on their cars, you would have to open the engine compartment to know for sure.

(or listen to it drive away)

Well let me inlighten you on the best way to tell from just about any distance. Real 308's have "Vent windows" (even though they are not really vents). Fiero kits have a small black triangle piece where the window slides and seals. Also, the angle of the front window is very noticable from any distance. The Ferrari has a very low sloped window. the front clip on the Fiero kit does not (due to structural mods) move the front tire well forward where the real 308 is located relative to the door. the front slope of the Fiero kit is way off and does not even come close to the ferrari lines. BUT, from the rear they are very similar. This dude was rolling by me at less than 5 miles an hour. He was looking straight at me (and the drivers side of the car) and was maybe 10 to 15 feet away.

Sean,
A friend here at work said that some one had a TR at the show. He said it was there saturday. We got over there that night (around 5) and I did not get to see it. He said it was nice.

"a five year old that has a slight interest in cars could tell the diffence between the Fiero 308 kits and a real one"

Perhaps not... I have been fooled before.

Hey Dan - I saw you cruising a couple of times. Yours was the only Ferrari I saw, though my brother said he saw a Daytona on Friday. My family has been going down there the last four years, but this year we didn't bring anything with the weather being so iffy. Some incredible cars there, last I heard there were over 5000 registered.

I went to the "Cruisin' the coast" cruise in this past saturday night. My wife and I cruised the strip of hwy 90 between Biloxi and Gulfport in my 1979 308. I got a lot of looks and a lot of Magnum PI yells. People were really nice. BUT, one moron in the back of an El Camino which was going in the oposite direction (Traffic was rolling about 5 mph at best at this time) kept saying "Nice Fiero..... Nice Fiero..... nice Fiero..." I did not say anything back. I did not think that yelling at this idiot was the best solution. I just rev'd it a little and ignored him. If he isn't intelegent enough to know the difference ( a five year old that has a slight interest in cars could tell the diffence between the Fiero 308 kits and a real one) then he didn't need the pleasure of knowing what he was looking at.
