Get a second set of rims with slicks mounted on them and change them on the track. Your wife should support you in your track effort anyways and she can drive the Suburban with the slicks in them, sort of the "service mobile". If she is not into it, then trailering is the only option. I have heard though there is a tire that is almost a slick but yet DOT approved. Don't remember where. Check the archives. |

For the ECSTAs, you must do 225/40/18 on the front. On the back, you can choose between 265/35/18 and 285/30/18. I chose the latter for maximizing performance, but the latter have a smaller diameter than the fronts, which tends to confuse the traction control... but that's easy to fix... just flip it off. If you're running R-compound tires, your driving skills should be beyond ASR anyway. (If you feel you need ASR, I recommend you stick with non-R tires... you'll learn a lot faster and safer.) However, if you want the R rubber but worry about sharing the car with a spouse, for whom the ASR would benefit, then go with the 265/35's in the back. Their diameter is larger than the fronts, much like the stock tires. ASR should work fine (though I haven't tested that). HTH. |

I currently have Kumho ECSTA V700s on mine. I have a stack of BFG's in my garage. But I think I am going to order a set of the Michelin Pilot Sport Cups to try when I wear out the V700s. |

What kind of track tires are people using ? I want to be able to drive to the track, so slicks or non-DOT approved tires are out. I checked with Kuhmo, Hoosier, Pirelli, Michelin, and Goodyear. No one makes an appropriately sized R-compound tire. So it seems the only option for me is to buy a trailer or regular street tires. On the 360, F= 215/45 - 18 R= 275/40 - 18 I thinks 235/40 -18 and 295/35 - 18 would be fine too. Appreciate any help.
