Rob - the S2000 owners get together and rent out two condos and it comes out MUCH cheaper than any hotel, and no.. that doesn't mean people are getting couches and floors either. Might want to check into it for next time. |

You are right cmparrf40(is your name Chris?) H stand is the best place to sit. J stand is a great seat also. I sat in H this year and J last year and would not want to sit anywhere else. The first year I sat in section C across from the pits and the seats sucked. |

Last year I was lucky enough to have been invited by a company sponsor of the Williams team to the paddock club. It is a blast and (if you have the cash) worth it. Aside from the lovely athmosphere (comparable to a hectic airport vs an AA Admirals club) you get a lot of chances to see the drivers up close. If you're hunting for autographs, that might get tricky as even in the Paddock, they're normally busy and running, but you get to see them and have many opportunities for cool pictures. My seat was actually on top the pit building, so that was a plus too as you get to see the cars partially from above and when they race your view is not obstructed by the fence and you get the awesome grandstand with the 100,000+ fans on them as the backdrop. I totally loved it and shot some of my best pictures of all times. Especially when you're into F1 and know the players you get chance to see people all over the place (caught a chat between Berger and Lauda and watched MS ride his Vespa around the paddock). As for Rob's budget: I love the $200 on the dancers. Hilarious! It was at the Classy Chassis where I saw my first 333 SP, but didn't dare taking a picture of it ;-) |

Frank, I have had Paddock passes for the Montreal Grand Prix and the USGP. I also had section H tickets at the USGP. While the Ferrari Paddock Club is nice, they are the worst seats to watch the race. I did get to see Rubens, Michael and Jean up close, but I am not sure that is worth the price of admission. Where did I sit for the race? In section H, best seats for race. Just thought you might want to know. |

I'll be going to USGP and I'll organize another dinner for Saturday night, but I have to do a bare bones budget. This year my costs were... airline ticket - $Free frequent flier miles GP ticket - $Free friends company paid for hotel - $450 50% share for 3 nights car rental - $80 50% share Ferrari memorabilia - $200 food/beer/Dancers/Classy Chassis - $200 --- $930 total That's about as cheap as I could do the entire trip. 2004 when wife is out of grad school things will be different. |

I'm planning on biting the bullet and buy Paddock Club tickets off the Ferrari Owners site for next years USGP. Let's try to get as many FC members to do the same . It's my understanding that you have to book early as there are a limited number of tickets available. Yes, it's expensive. But, you only live once and it's cheaper than a 30k service. Anyone else interested ? |
