Bill, as the original responder to your very first posting, I will be totally honest with you. I can't afford to buy the car from you, so I simply want you to just GIVE it to me for free. How's that for sincerity. I will give it a good home. I will even buy a brand new car cover from Wal-Mart for it. I am even willing to drive down with my trailer and pick it up. You won't even have to strain your back helping me load it. I will do it all. This way, you won't have to deal with all those flakey buyers with their back-door brokering and no cash. Anxiously awaiting your reply.

Hi Bill,
I found your stories quit amusing, which goes to show that no matter what you are selling, the freaks will always come out.....

Bill: Don't feel like you are the only one to be baptized by fire. One of my first posts led to one of the most animated discussions ever. I think that there were 285 posts to the thread. And all that I did was to post a picture of my car. (Well, actually the back of my car including a rather debated license plate holder!) I still love this site, too much fun for words especially if you don't take things personal. Fish license plate frames rule!!!

Gentlemen (and Ladies),

After my controversial first series of posts, I stayed away. Nothing like someone new to come in and stir up all the friends. Regardless, I do apologize for causing so much furor over my innocent question.

I haven't made much progress on the pending sale of the car, but I continue to get the occasional email from prospective buyers.

Three of their stories should be enjoyable for you Ferrari owners.

First Guy: This guy has asked reasonable questions, seems very knowledgable and has made no strange requests. He wants to wait until January to make a purchase.
I can tell from the emails he is sincere.

Guy #2: Laughable. Initially, he said he just wanted pictures and he asked my authorization to show them around and if he could sell it he wanted me to be willing to let him transport the car to his dealership to close the deal.
He said he would do the transaction through his dealership and then give me the funds. (he wants to increase awareness of his new facility)

When I told him it simply wouldn't work that way, unless we signed a contract or agreement to broker the car, he seemed annoyed and said that if HE was going to pay for the car he would have to be allowed to have it inspected and be allowed to take it to the inspection. He would need to keep it overnight and if I wasn't open to that it was obvious I didn't know anything about selling cars of this magnitude.

Guy #3: This guy is the best. He admitted up front that he probably couldn't afford the car, but he wanted to come look at it and if it caused the same kind of blood flow redirection that he anticipates he may then be able to go back home and talk his wife into allowing him to find the funds.

It seems that whether you are selling a $500 pick up truck or a Ferrari you still run into all the regular stereotypes.

I find the 2nd guy particularly laughable. He wants me to allow him all kinds of loopholes just because the car is "different".

I explained that I am open to any kind of viewing, inspection, appraisal, research that he wants, but the car isn't leaving my custodianship under his pipe dream circumstances.

Anyway, I thought you all would enjoy. I will not share the names of these gentlemen. They have done nothing wrong, just funny stories.

Bill
