For routine cleaning and maintenance, I've had very good luck with Plexus. I have the Meguiar's and the Porsche stuff, but haven't felt the need to use any of it yet. I hear Griot's stuff is also really good.

89Tcab, yes the sealer makes water bead on the top for months after an application.

Hey Frank, do you find the sealer makes a difference? I keep up with any cleaning as needed but always wondered if the top needed to be treated for sealing from time to time as I drive in the rain.

I don't have a soft-top, but any other clear plastic surfaces I've used the Novus 2-step plastic polish system. The #2 is especially fine, it did a superb job cleaning my iridium-coated Oakley sunglasses...

Hey Rob, you feeling alright? Are you getting fresh with Magoo ?

I use a product that comes in a spray can sold at the boat and canvas shops in Detroit area made by Summer Laboratories Inc. in Boston, Ma. phone number 1-800-542-8656 called 210 Plastic Cleaner and Polish it is wonderful stuff. It is also very easy to use no mess no fuss. The price is $6.49 for a 14 oz. can.

I use the BMW Top Care kit for my 348 and it works great. It includes a top shampo, a top sealer, a rear plastic window cleaner and a rear plastic window polish. You can get the kit from a local BMW dealer for about $20.00

Mequiar's makes a product specifically for cleaning and polishing plastic windows. Its called Mirror Glaze Plastic Cleaner & Polish #18. It does an excellent job.

Magoo's dead on with the toothpaste. That's what my friend's body shop used on mine and worked great.

Doody, If the areas on the window to be cleaned don't have heavy scratches you can use Colgate orig.white toothpaste on a damp soft cloth to clean the glass. The toothpaste has a mild abrasive in it and does a good job.

what do people suggest for plastic cleaner for the rear window on the drop tops (355 in my case, though i assume it applies across most everything)?

my 911 convertible came with some porsche cleaner in a tiny jar that did very impressive things to the plastic window - great stuff - but i sent it off with the car when i sold it, silly me.

any advice appreciated. couldn't find anything in the archives on this.

doody.
