Thanks guys. Since F is not honoring the warranty on my 360 Euro I will insist on Mobil1 or equivalent. |

info on the ultra shell helix oil can be found here: http://www.shell.com/au-en/application/0,4611,31734,00.html just search for "helix ultra" and chose the 5w40. agreed, mobile 1 is a great oil, used it for years and years. have tried redline a few times - very slick, very cool stuff, but mobile 1 is much easier to obtain, and I dont have a Ferrari at the moment. |

All this goes with sponsorship. Just as BretM had figured it out. All the owners of older Ferrari will find AGIP Oil sticker in their cars. This dates from the time that Agip was the official oil sponsor for Ferrari in F-1. On your next full oil service I would change to a different synthetic oil. Mobil One works great. Make sure the grade is the same. That is really all that matters. I guarantee you all that in the very near future there will be special cans of oil with special filler tricks that will prevent us from changing oil to a different manufacturer. I had that already on my Jaguar for the hydraulic fluid. |

Bret figured it all out right there. |

Another example of Ferrari screwin ya, bastards. Oil is oil, if anything I would say that Mobil probably makes better oil than shell, they just don't sponsor Ferrari. |

Ferrari specifies Shell Helix 5W40 for the 355 as well. Apparently, Ferrari is the only source for this particular oil in the US, so there is no other way of getting it at a better price. I asked the technician at my Ferrari shop and he could not tell me what the difference was between the Shell Helix, Mobil 1, Red Line or other top quality synthetics, other than the fact that he sold the Shell oil for $14.95 per liter and the other stuff was available for less elsewhere. |

My dealer says I should use the specified Shell Helix 5W40 oil at least during the warranty period. Supposedly, Ferrari analyzes the oil in case of a major failure and denies warranty claims if the right oil wasn't used. They sell the Helix for $17 a liter here in L.A. You are getting a deal at $14.95!!!! I am pretty sure using Modil 1 or Lubro Moly in the same weight will be just fine, though. |

Just had my first oil change at the dealership.$250!! It was explained to me that the 360 requires special Shell oil at $14.95/qtx 10qts plus filter and 1 hr labor. Is this straight scoop or gouging? |
