Say..does that have a 12 cylinder? Judging by the massive tires I would think something with big ci is under the hood, trunk, seat, floor boards:0)

First of all nothing explains Martins spelling!

As for a coffin I try to avoid large SUV's and fully loaded shopping carts as neither would be surviable incident.

Martin there was no real mistake the car started the race in 57 it just took a year to finish (in 58).

Uh, Craig, great choice!

You know that is a great track car as well? They are virtually impossible to flip over. I am talking cornering...whow!

It's nice Paul, but I think I still am on the lookout for a 2CV with canvas seats....

Paul,

It still must be a great head turner in the US! You will probably get more sympathy when driving around than with your Ferrari :-)

I don't think that is the Ferrari Egg Van. I think it is the Ferrari Death Wagon, more commonly known as the Rolling Coffin, especially after a head on crash with any full size vehicle. I saw one of those Isettas for about $1500 a few months ago. Of course it needed a full resto and was missing some parts. Naturally, being of sound mind, I walked away.

Is that a headrest bracket I see on the passenger side? Maybe L. Wayne can track down the particulars.

Enjoy your Steve Urkel-mobile. Hopefully the door won't open while speeding around lefthanders at maximum Gs.

Martin is from East Squidvaria? That explains his spelling.

Jens,
It is my understanding that there are about 1600 of these left out the 160,000 made and that there location is equally split between Europe and the US. I drive this one every day but you must ajust after driving the Ferrari.

I am glad you like it!

Sorry about the confusion on the 1957 and 1958. My mistake. Still a rare piece of history.

Where are the rest of the Ferrari historians that can give us some additional input on this "Egg-Van" ?

Are the hub caps original or from the 1959 1/2 model, when they changed to 3 lug nuts?

Hey thats a BMW Isetta, isnt it! Really cool car and even quite rare here in Germany. Guess you are one of only a dozen people in the US to own such a nice gem...

I thought everyone should hear about my experience with Martin at Cavallino Motors:

Several Months ago I contacted him to see if he could find me a rare Ferrari competition car from the 50's, I had been told by many that he was honorable. Martin told me that he knew of a perfect car for my driving skills and that my driving reputation was well know.

About two weeks later martin contacted be and said he had found the very rare 1957 Ferrari competition car that he had mentioned earlier and that I should wire him $385,000 which included his commision, I thought nothing of this request because so many people I knew spoke so highly of him. He went on to add that this car entered the 1957 Miglia Mille and FINISHED 1st. While we have all heard and seen the 1 off Ferrari Bread Van, I was informed that this was the even rarer Ferrari Egg Van and that martin had found it in his native land of east Squidvaria near FrankFurt Germany. I was also told that it had the special Lemans package for fast entry from the running start.

The cars shipping was all arranged by Martin and it arrived just yesterday, was I surprised... that would be an understatement! See photo's below.

By the way Martin was correct it did finish 1st but it was in 1958 Mille Miglia, it started in 1957 though.
