Spec Miata has replaced SRX7 as the popular new cheap racing class. SRX7 is still the cheapest way to race, but SM will be the most popular moving forward. It costs about $8k to be legal in SM, $12k to be mid pack, and some spend $25k for a front car. The racing is awesome. I know because they race side by side with us. I actually dented in a FC user's SM in a race at MSR a few weeks ago when I had the corner and he didn't back off. My panel just poped right back in place. Oh, a race legal SRX7 sold last week for $2,500. Out of 20 SCCA classes, SRX7 is by far the most ecconomical and I think fun. SRX7 site www.spec7.org SM site www.specmiata.com |

Looks like lots of fun Jon! I've seen an occassional VD show up to local autox's years ago, but haven't seen one with the raised nose in person. Rob - not to get too off topic, but what you do think of the Spec RX7/Miata races, since you've had experience in that realm? I thought about building up a spec Miata next year to race around the tracks in Texas. |

My friend and I www.chicksdigitracing.com are looking at this class for in a few years. I think it may become more popular than SRF. |

I am in the process of putting my cash deposit down on the Van Dieman SCCA Formula car that will compete in the Formula Atlantic class (though SCCA may move it a class lower if there is enough oposition). The new cars will be shipping from England this month. Specs are 900 pounds, six speed sequential gear box and a 160 hp Ford/Mazda engine. Power to weight is just shy of the new Enzo (5.4 vs. 4.8). Hope to bring it out to some FCA events. Will have it painted red and also put a Ferrari shield on it. Note: not me in the picture Regards, Jon P. Kofod 1995 F355 Challenge #23
Will be sad to see this one go!
