3 friends(they did most of the work) and I built a Factory Five Racing Cobra in 10 weeks last year and it is one sweet car. Totally reliable, faster than a Vette or Viper, rock solid and a blast to drive. I've never had a car that is as much of an attention getter as my Cobra. It gets even more attention than my 308!! The car is very well engineered and is relatively easy to assemble. I highly reccommend them for those that have an interest in replicas. Roger B. |

P.S.S Theirs a guy in Cal whos trying real hard on a MacCLaren F1 repro. I hope he legals it out, I see me doing that... or a GT-40,the Daytona Cobra, the Ultima.Theirs this elderly gentleman about two miles away on the island, evry now and then I see him at the bank or market,he drives this TALBOT-LOGO.Its real and well above $400,000 I heard of a company in Fla who makes them out of alluminum with Ford 302s in them but at 1/4 the price. I bet even a Gearhead like me couldnt tell with ear plugs in, and not looking underneath..... Also I threw some 400 hp v-8s in Porsche 911s n 914s (strengthened of course ) THEY WERE A RUSH..... |

Chris, Excellent Choice,Ive built a few myself,FACTORY FIVE is way up their on the pole position.THE COBRA DAYTONA,THE ULTIMA is one hell of a gorgeous and well engineered reproduction too, with the right choice of repro IE FAC-5 you get track tested, precise, well suspended, powered, braked,MONSTER MO-FO... P.S. One thing I know about REPROS is that when your driving down the road or in a parking lot 90 % of the audiance assumes its a million dollar vehicle.(you will come across the rare excepetion of the insecure punk who questions, and ends with kit-car. but usually drives away in a piece of SH-- with his speakers that cost more than his car.Just about all gear-heads appreciate and know the power you can inflict with that car.I love repros,v8 hybrids, anything light with giant motors that brakes n handles well. I love my f-car too but for the money you made a great choice..... |

I'm building one right now. Just started a few weeks ago. http://www.exit109.com/~mfennell/cobra.html I'm looking to end up right around $20k with the stock Mustang powertrain but pwr steering & brakes, heat, heated seats, forced air to help keep the cockpit cool in summer, 3-link rear suspension (stock mustang rear suspension is apparently scary at speed in these little go karts), catalytic converters for full legality, etc. Read all about them at http://www.factoryfive.com

As I've mentioned in the past, I'm one the few here that doesn't get bothered by kit cars.. I sometimes see cobras on the road and really like their looks.. If I were to build a "real" kit car (tube chassis stuff), I would love to do a ERA GT40.....I just love rear engine cars.. |

Bret, are you in contact with Paul Sloan in Sarasota? He is doing major engine work on his 308. I mean major! Hopes for 400+HP when done! |

Brett, I'm two years in to trying to "finish" my Europa which was in excellent shape when I bought it. I'm ahead of the curve (meaning I'm putting stuff on faster than it can fall off) but have a ways to go yet. I hope you have better sucess "finishing" your 308!! |

I love Cobras, unfortunately in my stupid quest to squeeze more power out of the 308s 3.0L I've spent almost enough (and we're only getting started) to get a cobra replica. Sometimes I wonder about myself. Cobras are sweet though, when I am "finished" with the 308 if I ever make more money my next sports car to park next to it in the garage will be a either a superformance or factory five. Par chance do you live near NJ? Please say you do, please say you do. |

Well, as many of you may know I had been searching for a Ferrari project car, or one to restore for about $30k. The dream never came true and I was tired of my car running so well, so I bought a kit car (GASP). Relax, it looks good, goes fast, and is solidly built. Its a factory five Cobra kit car. I initially had doubts about kit cars, but realized this was an extraordinary manufacturer who uses race experience to engineer their car. Its a Factory Five MkII Roadster, with about 400bhp and 2100 pds (Read: Sub 4 0-60). THe handling is also extraordinary with a racecar like feel. THe car has a massive 4" round tube frame with lattice work surrounding the tubes, and aluminum panels. The body is merely a thin skin over a chassis, like an old racecar. I love it!!! |
