I just returned from Ferrari, Lambo, Maserati and Ducati tours, etc. Spent 11 days in the Tuscany area of Italy. Loads of car, motorcycle things to do along with my "significant others" garden/villa visits. I have a bunch of pictures on a CD.....need help on how to load them to this site. Saw and heard the new ENZO on the street near the factory. Get back to you soon. |

I was just there 3 weeks ago.I took a day trip with my new wife from Florence. With GPS, you can be there in an hour and a half. We saw the whole town, including the galleria in half a day. I did not tour the factory, however, Lunch at the Cavallino is a must. I had a great time at the mecca and will go again. Next time I will be a little more prepared. A factory tour would have been the cherry. |

Check out the newly opened Planet Hotel, right over the new Fer store, across the factory's main entrance. Very modern amenities, very quiet and reasonable ($100 incl. great breakfast). Had a great view of the factory gate from my balcony. |

Yep the Montana is just outside of downtown Maranello and it's far from dinky. It's adorned with F-memoriabilia, pics, autographs, Michael's and Rubens racing suits, helmuts, etc. It's actually quite a large place and the food is fantastic! The mama is mama Rosella and it was actually her that told us Rory was here. Apparently he frequents the place a lot. There's also pics of Michael cooking pasta in the kitchen with mama Rosella! But I'm not sure if it's his favourite place. A lot of the Ferrari mechanics go there also. |

Actually, you don't have to own a Ferrari--just need to be good friends with a Ferrari dealer. Last year, before I bought my car, I had arranged a tour for myself, my wife, and a couple who are friends and car nuts. FNA and Ferrari SPA approved the tour, even though none of us owned a car at that time. Unfortunately, the tour was schedule for Sept 20--and for obvious reasons we cancelled. I don't know what the dealer did (maybe used a VIN from a used car they had for sale on the floor)--but we got the tour. Had no problem getting the tour this time, either, although now I'm an owner. |

Montana? Hmm, I'll make a note of that. Got a long list of places to visit/eat in town, but that one is new I believe (actually I got more restaurants than time, so I guess I'll have antipasti at one place and secondi at another...). Is Montana the place where MS likes his pasta? Read an article about a year ago about an Italian 'mama' who runs a dinky restaurant in town (minutes away from the track) where allegedly Schumi gets his favourite pasta. They didn't mention the restaurant's name in the article for obvious reasons. Impressed, that you recognized Rory. I wouldn't have. |

No prob Andreas, Once FNA has all your info they send it to the factory. It may take awhile before the factory confirms with FNA. FNA will then call you and courier the confirmation documents to you. You're going to have a great time there! p.s. don't forget to have lunch and dinner at the Montana (fantastic place). I met Rory Byrne and his family there plus I got his autograph! |

Lawrence, many thanks for that! First time I heard about this option. Funny they didn't even mention this in FORZA. Will contact FNA and update my travel plans. |

Andreas! I did the same tour with Stephen last September. You can take the tour as long as you're an owner of an F-car. All I did was to apply at your local Ferrari dealer (or if one isn't nearby apply at FNA) giving the dates you want to go plus your VIN number (they require alternates) and they come back to tell you if the date is ok plus they set the time. Good Luck! |

Scott and Steven: *HOW* did you manage to get that tour? From what I have heard/read in the past it is easier to get an audience with the Pope than invited to the factory. I also heard, that Ferrari of North America might help, but I can't see, why they would support a miserly 308 owner like myself? :-( I'm planning a trip to Maranello for next spring (Imola's last hurray!), but don't have much hope to ever see the inner sanctum... |

Hi, In September i did a factory tour. Have quite a few photos and info online and it was a great time! Also caught them while shaking down one of the F1 cars on their track. Please see http://www.enjoythemusic.com/milan2002/ferrari/ . Had a great time and will remember it for the rest of my life :-) Enjoy The Drive, Steven R. Rochlin

Just returned from the tour. Made two trips from the Hotel Domus (in Maranello) to the city center in Modena. Each trip was 35-40 minutes. Of course, given rush hour stack ups in Modena, and depending on where you are staying could be less or more. The factory tour itself take 1.25 to 1.5 hours. Mine was at 2 p.m., I had plenty of time after the tour to hit the Galleria Ferrari, as well as most of the Ferrari paraphenalia stops, and make it to Modena for dinner. There is a recent Forza article that discussed most of what there is to see and do in Maranello, including where you can sneak peaks at the Fiorano test track. Contact me off list and I'll see if I can find it, or perhaps another lister recalls the issue? |

You can drive from Milan to Maranello in about 1.5 hrs to 2.5 hrs depending on traffic directly around Milan and which side of Milan you start from, once outside Milan you can fly low on the autostrada. Did not do the factory tour but did everything else there is to do in marnello and was back on Lake Como by 6pm. |

How far by car is the factory from Milan? Can the visit be made and time to drive back to Milan on the same day? How long is the factory tour? Any information would be appreciated. Feel free to email me at [email protected] |
