Count me and my wife in for this meeting. Depending on when we make the decision it will be with a 360 modena or my actual Roock 996 C2 |

Martin, Your wife surely wants to visit her brother again I guess! Fits perfectly so we can all enjoy our cars and some pints of wonderful Klsch! You seem to know the Rheinland fairly good! How is that? (Knew that you grew up around Frankfurt, right? Nevertheless quiet far away from Cologne to know the different beer standards!) Con saluti cordialissimi, Jens Haller |

Dave you have mail re Aon insurance Roel Yep that was taken at Goodwood earlier this year, I've been tracking it for 18 months now although more recently have been using my Caterham ex-race car for most trackdays (only 220BHP but 480Kgs!!!!) use the 355 now mainly for fun road or charity days, might be selling it soon as I'm hankering after a 360 or maybe a 550 |

Roel, Hope you can make it next year to our meeting nevertheless! Last time I did a laptime of around 9 minutes with a frightening spin at the slow chicane of Adenauer Forst. This has taught me the lesson not to take too great risks next time. I want to keep my car for some years after all! Martin, Of course Bonn is not Milan but it is still a nice city to go. You can go shopping there or in Cologne or Düsseldorf which isnt too far away after all. If there should be more wifes or girl friends attending I could work out a kind of program for them as well if they dont like to go to the Ring. No problem! OK we now have two new guys attending which leds to the following list: Amar Inam from the UK (F360 Modena) Luuk Uiterwijk from the NL (348tb) Ulf Modig from SW (308qv) Kevin Johnson from the UK (F360 Modena) Eli Latif from the UK (F355 Spider) Simon Campbell from the UK (400) Richard Lawford from the UK(F360 Modena Spider) Manu Sachdeva from the UK Steve Holden from the UK (348ts) and his Boss (Dodge Viper!) Martin from the US Becker Cuellar from the US Jens Haller from Germany (348tb) Mark Pautz from the UK (328GTS) Mark Collins from the UK (F355 GTS) Bart Boonacker from the NL Marcel Cup from the NL (348ts) 17 people and 12 Ferraris! |

Well for a guy from Florida it sure is a once in a life time opportunity. The nordschleife is a track with a history that goes a long way back. And not only the track but meeting up with lots of european enthusiasts would be great experience aswell. But you could also take your wife to Bonn if you all would stay there and let here go shopping orso. I'm sure there lots of things to do in Bonn. Maybe Jens has got some ideas for her, maybe a health spa or something (she must love that ) |

My wife will probably not come up there. She pretty much told me that she will not spend her whole vacation doing Ferrari stuff. She said drop me in Milan on your way up and I will meet you somewhere to fly home Leaving her with a bunch of Italians is not really the option, is it? hm, but for driving the Nürburgring? I guess I have to take my chances, right guys? |

Hey Roel, I heared it from BJ yesterday that you probably aren't gonna make it. To bad, would be great though, so if you can plan a short vacation do it then :D Otherwise I'll go with BJ if he wants to or I'll go alone (but I'm sure someone would want to tag along, my dad for instance). Anyway if you can't make it in the end I'll just put some pictures and movies on the web so that you can enjoy it at least a bit. |

Hey Bart, This should be great huh? Problem with me is, im problably not in Holland June of next year. Which pretty much stinks. Wouldn't wanna miss out on this one. Btw, if I -can- make it, you bet we'll go there together :] The nurburgring seems like so much fun, especially in the summer.....especially with a all those ferraris around. Btw Mark; that picture in your profile...is that you tracking your 355 ? Sure looks great. Marcel: Hooray!, another dutchie, and an owner even. Checked your site out, looking good, I like that shifter design, very original. The 348 is looking great too. ps: Jens, I was just wondering.... what was your laptime on the nordschleife again? Just curious. Somewhere around 9 minutes was it? (with or without spinning?) ....laptimes on the ring are not all that important afcourse, fun is the main thing, but i'm just interested. |

Mark (collins), I also insure my 348 with AON, do they cover you for 'occasional' commuting i.e. one trip to work in a blue moon? AON dont seem to make any provision for this, which I find a little annoying, how do you feel about it or doesn't it bother you |

While I am not owning a Ferrari and even renting one isn't a real option, would it be ok if I would visit this Fchat track meeting on the day you're all gonna drive on the Nordschleife ? I would love to see all those Ferrari's in one place and take some nice pictures and footage. Driving up to the Nordschleife isn't a problem since I live in the Netherlands. |

Luuk, As far as I know the Nordschleife is defined as a normal road with toll. This definition means that normal insurances are still valid since the Nordschleife is legally not defined as a race track. Mr Lovejoys homepage should have something about that topic as well... Im trying to find out if we could set-up some kind of insurance for the event I know mine isn't covering any damage as they occur on a racing track. Could be that the costs will be to high (appends how many drivers will attend) but Ill get back on this. Luuk

Just informed myself about the costs of our meeting for next june. The costs should be something like that: Hotel: Around 200 to 250 Euro for three nights (These are 4 or 5 Star hotels. Exact price depends on how many people attend!) Track: 48 Euro for 5 laps on the Nordschleife (You can pay per lap also which is 11 Euro as I already mentioned) Petrol:Depends on how much you drive and how far your home destination is. The rest of the costs are depending on how much you personally want to spent during the meeting of course (food and drinks etc.). The degustation or the visit of the reaturant shouldnt be too expensive though. Just wanted to mention this first estimation to make you familiar with what the costs might be. Hotels here in Bonn arent that expensive since it isnt such a touristic city. Thought this might be a good reason to choose a better one where the cars can be stored safely during the nights and all of you really enjoy your visit. The booking of the hotel and the exact time can be fixed early next year (3-4 month before the meeting) since it is difficult to know all the prices right know. Besides we dont need to fix anything too early. Anyway make a mark in your calendar around early june next year!!! Commends or feedback are always appreciated. Con saluti cordialissimi, Jens Haller

Hi everybody, Ben Lovejoys homepage about the Nürburgring is really good but numbers about deadly accidents are overexaggerated, IMO. You just need to keep up the respect for that tremendously difficult and long racetrack. Problem is that if you get off track you really gonna hit something hard and might get hurt (plus damage of the car!). Nevertheless its extremely rewarding to get to know the track and improve constantly. Mark, Welcome on this site. Glad you are considering to join our meeting next june. A 328 was missing in our little group! Luuk, Cool if you could manage to persuade your friends with their cars to join us. Martin, Its always better to wear a helmet but I have never worn one on the Nordschleife. At other racetracks like Spa its obligatory though! Steve, That might convince your boss to join us. Definitely an appropriate idea Con saluti cordialissimi, Jens Haller P.S. Will look around for room rates at some nice hotels here in Bonn tomorrow in order to get some better prices. Will report about the results in some days. |

Amar Inam from the UK (F360 Modena) Luuk Uiterwijk from the NL (348tb) Ulf Modig from SW (308qv) Kevin Johnson from the UK (F360 Modena) Eli Latif from the UK (F355 Spider) Simon Campbell from the UK (400) Richard Lawford from the UK(F360 Modena Spider) Manu Sachdeva from the UK Steve Holden from the UK (348ts) and his Boss (Dodge Viper!) Martin from the US Becker Cuellar from the US Jens Haller from Germany (348tb) 13 people and 9 Ferraris so far. A good result for the beginning and a really international group. Looking forward to the meeting! Martin and Becker, If you are interested in driving a Ferrari I could get information how much it would cost to rent one for a day or two. Would be the cheapest way. On the other hand you will both certaintly have the opportunity to lap a car from one of the european owners. Richard, Welcome to our crazy community, old sport Steve, As you can see from the list above I dont see any reason to permit other sport car enthusiasts to join, even when they drive a Viper So it looks that only Ross, Rijk and Mark are missing... The exact time cant be set till the begining of next year (Due to the fact that the schedule for the Nordschleife isnt to be released in early 2003) but it definitely will be around early June. Update: Just telephoned with the organisation team of the Nürburgring. The schedule for 2003 will not be released until early 2003. To get on the Nordschleife is mostly nothing of a problem though. To make some laps on the actual Grand Prix track might be difficult since there is a lot of testing and events. The only possibility is to rent the whole track for one day which would cost 11000 Euro. Since we are supposed to be a rather small group I consider this as too expensive. The Nordschleife is much more fun to drive anyway and way cheaper for all of us (11 Euro per lap which is over 20km long). Since most of the people who are interested come a long way from Holland, Sweden, UK and US I would like to keep the costs low. Again I want to emphasise that nobody who says now that he wants to attend has any obligation to do so afterwards. I am not booking anything now just doing some planing to show what might be possible and how much the costs for these four days are. Manu, Of course it would be nice to bring a Ferrari to the meeting but as I just said every FChat member is welcomed as well. Perhaps you could come and bring some friends with Ferraris with you? Since the season is over for this year I havent installed and bought a Tubi and test pipes. Will do this next year when season begins and probably buy it fom you if you can make a good offer... Ross, Would be nice to have you with us! The exact schedule and everything like hotels etc. will definitely be fixed somewhere early 2003 (March or so!) if we really can gather several people and cars. Con saluti cordialissimi, Jens Haller

Provisional list for first european FChat track meeting at the Nürburgring from 5th to 8th 2003: Amar Inam (F360 Modena) Martin (Guest from the US) Luuk Uiterwijk (348tb) Ulf Modig (if he is in Sweden at that time; 308qv) Jens Haller (348tb) What about the others: Ross, Manu, Rijk, Steve, Kevin? By the way you could ask as many Ferrari owners you personally know. The more people (and Ferraris) attending the better. Of course other FChat members without a Ferrari are welcome as well! Its nothing definitely but lets do a first list of people who are attending: Amar Inam with his F 360 Modena Martin (Just for one or two days!) Me with my 348tb (Till then with test pipes, Tubi sport exhaust and K&N Air filters) Who is up with us? Should really be not too expensive! Just the hotel, food and 11 Euro per lap on the Nordschleife! Hope lots of people from Holland and Great Britain join us... Con saluti cordialissimi, Jens Haller |

JUne 5-8 would work. I am sure I can not make the whole program. My wife would kill me. I will torture her anyway. Monaco GP Ferrari Factory and town Nürburgring F-Chat Meeting I will have some explaining to do there... Serious though. I would love to drive the Nürburgring. 5-8 is fine or the weekend before MOnaco GP would be fine as well. I will schedule around and meet you guys there Fridays or Saturdays for a day at the track. Cool. All I have to do now is get my day confirmed with Ferrari for the grand tour! Hey Rob, would that make me a FerrariChat-Ambassador?

Jens and all, Wow it's an avalanche of interest for the get-together! Please count me in too. Your Nurburgring programme sounds good. If people want to go for Spa I know the Belgian Ferrari importer Garage Francorchamps who also organise the Spa Ferrari weekend and maybe they can help us put together our weekend. Martin - Monaco is provisionally on June 1st, and incidentally the European at Nurburgring is June 29th. How about getting together June 5-8 then? Ciao, Amar |

Jens/Luuk, Either of these ideas sound fantastic and June would work for me (I'd *make* it work). If I lean to one more than the other it'd be the Nürburgring, since I have never done this and it's unfinished business. Manu's right- quite a few of the UK Ferrari boys would be up for this |

Guys, Really love to read your are all want to meet each other hope it really happens, a date must be somewhere in June as the most people have their holiday then. Maybe this is something, Last year I went to Marranello for a trip to place of birth with my 348, we went on a camping to stay as backpackers with my Ferrari. The owner of camping (I think he was about 70 years) came to us and told us that he had over 50 sports cars he wouldnt tell how many of them where Ferraris Im sure it must be quite a few. In al the years that he owned the place he had never seen somebody with a tent and a Ferrari to come to stay over for a fey nights. He promised us that if we would return the next year we could see the Enzo because he ordered one. First I did not believe him but later on the man ho was at the reception told us that is was true and that he really mend it. So we are going back there anyway. Wouldnt it be great to meat up at this camping stay over for a night and then try to set up a tour to the factory, Im sure the old men will have the time of his life and so will we .

Just couldnt get rid of the thought of a FChat Track meeting at the Nürburgring. Just thought of a nice programm. What do you guys think of something like that? Thursday: Individual arrival in Bonn (Greatest and nicest City near the Ring) Checkin at hotel (Bristol, Hilton or Petersberg Hotel in Bonn) Visit of the city etc. Evening at a nice beergarden directly at the rhine river Friday: Breakfast Driving to the Ring in a Ferrari Corso Free driving on the Nordschleife or Grand Prix track Visit of the Motorsport museum directly at the Ring Evening Dinner at "Il Punto" (Helmut Kohls favourite italian restaurant in Bonn) Saturday: Breakfast Back to the Ring again (Different route now: Either nice twisty small road or directly via the Autobahn) Free driving at the Nordschleife again! Drive back to Bonn in a Corso through the Ahrtal with a wine degustation at the Deutzer Hof (Good wine yard) Evening: Farewell party at my appartement Sunday: Breakfast Probable visit of the city Individual departure Of course this is just a proposal, a first thought. I could get informations about all points immediately. Besides I could send everyone of you a very detailed track map of the Nordschleife and hotel, restaurant, wine yard etc. in advance including costs etc.etc. Would be nice to organize something like that. Perhaps someone has similar ideas for Spa? Lets talk about it! Con saluti cordialissimi, Jens Haller P.S. Martin, If you are there you can do a lap on the Ring with my car! |

Jens and the rest, make it early (first week) of June and I will be there too. When in the Monaco GP the next year? Anybody have the dates already? Need to visit my old stomping grounds again. Want to do a GP race while there and then head to Maranello and then possibly back up north to see you guys. So set a date!

Jens - definitely. Bringing a set of Ferraris down to the 'Ring would be AWESOME. (I'm bit scared of driving on it though ) I know quite a few people who would definitely be willing to do it. The question is how and when? In fact Ross - re UK or London based Ferrari owners, your idea is a good one too.... We need to get more hard driving done. The FOC events are nice but I really reckon we ought to get toghether to blast the cars. Ali and I are always going up to near Kevs place because there are some awesome twisties there big enough to take a flying Ferrari... |

Amar, Ross, Manu and all the others, If we really want to do such a meeting next year (Around June or July) at Spa or the Nürburgring I would like to help with the organisation. Especially with the Nürburgring I have several nice ideas for a probable programm since I am living in Bonn (Its near by the Ring!) Perhaps we could just put up a list of the people who might want to attend. This would really become a cool meeting... Con saluti cordialissimi, Jens Haller |

a suggestion for the london based fchatters....i recently attended the jonathan palmer driving day at the bedford autodrome (fantastic day out btw), and they also do track days for groups in their own cars. so that could be fun and hopefully not too expensive. |

Martin, Thanks for suggesting the corniche - I know it well too (almost moved to Cannes some years ago) but my 360 is a corniche virgin, so it's added to the route; and we'll drink to your health at La Reserve. Just have to be disciplined I don't add so many favourites that the drive back to London goes via Madrid...! Amar |

Amar, It would be a pity on your way back to miss out Monte Carlo and the drive along the bass corniche thru Beaulieu-sur mer,Ville Franche, antibes,Nice and Cannes. We spent 12 summers at the "jewel of the riviera in Beaulieu-sur mer called "La Reserve de Beaulieu.Definitely worth stopping for the nite or at least a meal. Took my Aston Vantage on the QE2 (lic plate dubl-07) and drove it all thru europe incl UK. Enjoy!!! |

Jens, Spa Ferrari Days is generally held the last weekend every April. However there are races all weekend and it tends to rain there a lot in April: two disadvantages if we want plenty of track time! Your Spa and Nurburgring options later in summer sound better on balance. Let's hope we can make it happen! Ciao, Amar |

Thanks chaps, Ross - It's my favourite drive down to Italy too but never done it in winter. We'll probably follow your suggestion, stopping at champagne and beaune houses - to liven up the first 500 km - on the way to Geneva (guess what the trunk will be full of!) and through Mt Blanc tunnel into Italy. Of course we might return via the places missed out on the way down (Cannes, Provence etc). Manu - "Saw" you on Pistonheads too and thanks for the welcome! Sorry I hate driving in most places in the UK (combination of too many drivers with no lane discipline and police persecution), would love to gather in Spa (at the Spa-Ferrari days in April?) or Le Mans or Monaco... I would definitely prefer a meeting at a racetrack to do some driving there. Would be great to do that together with a lot of FChat members. The Nürburgring can be accessed nearly every normal day (Except when there are races etc.). A meeting there could be arranged easily. Problem is there are all the other "normal" drivers who always want to challenge you on the track which is annoying and very dangerous. Could spoil all the fun... German dealer "Modena Motorsport" organizes a good event just for Ferrari drivers. They rent the whole racetrack (Mostly Spa or Nürburgring Grand Prix track)for a weekend and let you drive for a small fee. Only Ferraris are admitted and they always have about 20 Formula One Ferraris there which are also driven exessively by their owners. A lot of english members are attending as well since the english Ferrari club also puts up this event in their calendar. I was in Spa this year with my car and it was great fun. Met there with Roel from this board. This meeting normally takes place around June/July and every Ferrari owner is invited. As I know some people from Modena Motorsport it would be no problem to manage that. Just two possibilities! What do you others think about that? Con saluti cordialissimi, Jens Haller |

Damn Right - we MUST have a F-chat meet in Europe.... only where - we could do a sort of mini-cannon ball run around one of the major Euro cities (do you guys fancy London at all?) or indeed a run to Spa or Monaco... Amar - welcome to Ferrarichat- it's great fun, and a welcome distraction from work - everyone is knowledgeable and nice - don't get sucked into the politics (like I do) and you'll love it. - Where are all the Londoners? As Kev said Pistonheads is also fantastic. |

amar, i have done that trip more times than i want to remember. at that time of year the weather can be very dicey, at times great other times a blizzard. that aside, it also depends on where you want to spend your 'free' time. my advice as follows: get out of the tunnel in calais, and head straight for geneva. the first 500 km are boring as hell but good for flat speed. approach geneva by way of dijon. once in geneva, you have a choice of either taking the montblanc tunnel, which is the most expedient, or the frejus, which allows you to have some fun in the twisties around albertville. on the other side of either tunnels, the weather improves a lot. the roads are interesting as well with great highways and some twisties. (go as fast as you like in a ferrari, the cops don't care). which one you choose, depends on where you want to go through on your way to rome. monaco, maranello, etc. i recomend going to the michelin guide website and getting a route from their program, the added benefit is they will list good restos along the way. i have done the trip in one day, but thats not much fun frankly. i would do it in 2, with geneva being the halfway point. |

Hi all, I'm based in London, UK, and just heard about ferrarichat.com on the UK owners club website, so hopefully other club members will join as well. Been reading the postings here and it is a great site and everybody is so helpful and friendly! Rijk has a good suggestion to add a section for European members, is someone initiating it? And I second Jens' idea to get together - I'm a fan of Spa Belgium - next year, looking forward to it. I would appreciate some advice: what sort of driving conditions - rain/snow, traffic - am I likely to encounter taking the Ferrari (360 Modena) from Calais to Roma around Christmas? We want to take either a northern route via Reims, Strasbourg and through Germany and Switzerland down to Milano, Maranello(!), Firenze and Roma, or a southern route via Paris, Provence, Cote d'Azur and Genoa. Any suggestions on the route, roads and stops will also be most appreciated. Look forward to chatting with everybody on here! Ciao a tutti, Amar |

Luuk, Really sad that there are not more european users of Ferrarichat.com. Would be great to get to know who is from Northern Europe and perhaps arrange some meetings at nice tracks like Spa or Nürburgring or see each other at great Ferrari Events (Challenge Races or Ferrari Racing Days etc.). This year is over with events but perhaps next year some of us could arrange something. Would be cool to see some of yours personally. Con saluti cordialissimi, Jens Haller |

As far as talking to people goes, it doesn't matter where they or you are in the world. Bit of a problem if you want to meet up though, and this is probably best done at a national level ie. within driving distance. Apart from FerrariChat, several of us are also on this UK site which is a general sportcar site with a strong Ferrari contingent http://www.pistonheads.net/gassing/forum.asp?f=63&h=0 |
