Mark, Autostrada on North Lamar across from the Central Market is sponsoring a Texas Ferrari Owners Club. We had our first organizational meeting a couple of weeks ago and I believe it is really going to be fun...good group of guys. We are planning our first event in September for a drive to the Oasis (security at the restaurant provided). Later events will include a couple of track events / drives each month thereafter. On August 23 Autostrada is hosting the Porsche club and they have invited several of the FOC members given Autostrada has more Ferraris than Porsches. We would love to have you and any other Ferrari owners interested in joining the FOC of Texas join us. It's at 6:30. Ask for me, Kevin H. If you can't join us call the Autostrada GM and Owner, "Ayman" at 512-302-1188 and he will send you and FOC application. Come by and see the cars at Autostrada...I am sure you will enjoy them. KH

There was some talk on Ferrarilist.com of a get together in Austin for the Hungarian Grand Prix, but I don't think it happened. (I mean the get together, I watched the race, with delight)

There is a FOCA meeting at the new Autostrada dealership I think this Thursday, although the web site may say Wed.

With so many Ferrari's in Austin, we should organize some Hill Country drives. I'm ready to join in whatever we come up with. Mark McKenzie

I know this is a little late, but I just signed on about 2 weeks ago. I had a 355 that I sold to buy my house. Big Mistake. The car was much better than living alone in a house. I am thinking of getting a 328 gts, since I can't sell my house. I am happy to get together for drives whenever. I did the Texas Hill Country drive last year with FCA and the Alfa club, it was great. Let me know if anything is going on.

I went by Zen the other day. Its located on Anderson. Take Mopac to Anderson (go East - since West is Spicewood Springs), go through the first light and then just after that, you'll see the "Zen" sign, looks like a small Japanese restaurant in a shopping strip, where Texas State Optical and a few other shops are located. This is on the left side of the street. Parking hazards? Well, as usually I might be getting some exersize that day since its a big lot; in other words, I'll be parking far out as usual.

If you aren't familiar with the area, feel free to email me about it and I can send you a mapquest link.

Also, on another board, here is another event for Austinites and various locals of ANY kind of sports car. Email [email protected] if you are interested in attenting and she will get you in contact with Henry. Thanks!

My name is Henry Ng, a friend of David B. with the wide-body silver NSX. We are planning on doing a weekend car meet/cruise/barbaque on Saturday, July 28 for a bunch of cars from a couple car clubs, a few domestics, and friends. David asked me to email you on whether you or anyone from the S2000 club would be interested on attending the weekend as mentioned. I will email you a flyer if you would like, made with Microsoft publisher. But in case you don't have that, I'll just rough copy and paste it below. Please email me your response.

Besides the date, the schedule is still in its early stages, but should be roughly the same. I have never done one of these car meets before so any input from some experienced as you would be much appreciated. Again, thanks for your time.

Come out for a weekend get together and take a scenic cruise down an awesome
road, with the day ending at a poolside barbecue. Show off your cars, meet
other people and have a blast!

Saturday Itinerary:

9:30-10:00 Meet at Albertsons at 183 & 1431
10:30-11:00 Head out to Lago Vista
11:20- Wash cars, get acquainted with everyone, grab a snack
12:30- 1:00 take a drive to marble falls
2:00- 4:00 eat at Chilles
4:00- 5:00 head to Point Venture for pool side Barbecue 6:00- Lake activities, BBQ, swimming, cruising, and much more

If you have trouble meeting at Albertsons, you can join us at anytime during the day. There is a 10.00 per head cover to help pay for all drinks, food, and items that may be needed.

At the end of the day, you are welcome to spend the night out here at one of out homes, or may return to Austin if you are able. On Sunday, whoever is remaining, or comes back, are invited to a day on the lake, boating, jet skiing, etc.

There was another post last month from an Austinite looking to do something locally. Once my 348ts is water pump replacement is finished I'm ready to get together.

The Owner of the new Autostrada dealership on North Lamar is promoting the local region of the Ferrari Owners Club of America, FOCA, not FCA. He's going to be organizing several events, inlcuding an open house at his new dealership. Look forward to whatever we can do. Mark

Thanks for the info Randy. I may stop by. Actually there are a number of Ferrari owners that I know...360 coup, 360 spider, TR and a 355B to name a few. However, no one seems to be much interested in getting together...too hotsy-totsy maybe? I like to drive my car and talk car with others no matter what they drive. What it the parking like at Zen? I suspect that you guys are as particular where you park as I am. Kevin

PS: where is Zen?

as a future Ferrari owner (ha!), I'm surprised that a local group hasn't been formed yet. I know Mark with the 348, and just ran past a white TR this past weekend at 183/Braker, but other than that, its quite rare that I see a Ferrari around here. Living in Houston over a decade ago, seeing a Ferrari was more common, but Houston - no hills!

The local S2000 group gets together quite often and always welcomes other individuals to join. We have a few NSX's in our group, Brian and David - the 500+HP '91 NSX with the widebody kit and every mod thinkable. We'll be getting together once again this Friday 7/6/00 if you are interested in stopping by for happy hour @ Zen (David's restaurant) - the usual 5:30~6pm time.

Yes, I know its a bit different and definately not in the league of Ferrari owners, but we go out on hill country drives, BBQ runs to Opies and Coopers and just out looking for a good time in our cars.

Any of you Ferrari owners in Austin Texas want to meet, show our cars to each other and perhaps organize some weekend drives in the Hill Country? I am surprised that none of the Ferrari owners in Austin have formed a club. Anyone interested in getting together or know of an existing meet?
