I don't even have an Fcar yet and Ferrari Chat is the first place I sign into every morning. I think this can be considered an addiction.

when I found fchat i felt like the girl in that blind melon video dressed up like a bumble bee. she sees all these other bees in a field behind a fence and realizes she is not alone and there are others like her.

i don't know about the ferrari-aholic bit, but i beleive that is why we call it a passion-because it defies logical thought.

James S (as in a 12 step program).I like your suggestion-perhaps we can start each post with "my name is -------and I'm a ferrariaholic?

I am 20 years old and i adore Ferrari from 5 or 6 y.o. I don't mean that Ferrari chat is not good for me, i enjoy it very much because i can speak with people with the same passion with me from all over the world. I say that the passion for Ferrari is something that can't change with any forum in the internet. It's like (or the same...?) a religion!

William, your support of Dr. Weiner's comments might lead one to suggest a "12 step program", first recognizing your "disease" and then confiding in others with similar pathology. Maybe our self indulgence is a pathological state that is fed by "like" individuals, and if we spend less time on FerrariChat we would regain our senses. I propose that we start an organization entitled "Ferrari Commiserates", where we tell tales of woe, commiserate with each other, and share stories of how our wife and families left us, how we lost our jobs, became social outcasts, etc., all over the want (passion) of a silly prancing horse pasted on a red car. The clinical symptoms include tremor and confusion brought on with withdrawal; inability to indulge in "one taste (drive)", failure to simply walk by one of these without stopping to look, etc.

While A.A. may have more members, Ferrari Commiserates might, arguably, have more style.

What do you think?

Jim S. (And don't ask if I would be the inaugural member - I don't want to belong to any club that would have me as a member.)

well, i've loved ferraris since i was about 12 so probably so... but fchat.com is a great place to talk about cars w/o people thinking "loving" your f-car is materialistic.

i have to second dr. weiners comments. the best thing about the ferrarichat is it assures me that i am not the only neurotic person out there when it comes to ferrari's. the best thing about this site is you can talk with like minded individuals. in my "real life", i can't do this as most people do not understand these passions and take you for being conceited.

Frankly, without Ferrarichat and the people I've met locally, I wouldn't have pulled the trigger and actually bought my Ferrari.

Sure, the passion would still be there and shared, but perhaps fewer Ferrari friends. The Chat has helped me meet and become friends with some great folks like Peter Rychel, Nika, Willis Huang, Stewart Chung, and others...We are blessed in the Pacific Northwest with a very active chapter of the FCA, this has made my Ferrari enthusiam and ownership experience that much more meaningful. I have at least five or six members that I stay in close contact on at least a weekly basis....

The passion has never left me for more than 50yrs before the chat. However the chat is icing on the cake. Not only informative, and great forum for meeting people but it's nice knowing there are so many others who have their priorities as screwed up as mine.

Without the 'Chat, I probably wouldn't have met so many great people! Definitely, when I first got my car, I was lost when it came to getting the damn thing to run, then I discovered Expensivecar.com and then the rest is history...

If you didn't have Ferrari Chat to share your thoughts about your Ferrari would your interest and passion be the same for your Ferrari? IMO, If you can share your interest in your Ferrari with others it makes the love for the car more meaningful. Just a thought.
