She is TINY! And hasn't exactly mastered the social side of the racing business (and yes, it is a business) but she is very talented. Having her blow by me in the McLaren at full tilt in her Atlantic like I was standing still was an eye-opening experience! Only a couple of mishaps: Lee Holman, of Holman & Moody engine fame, looped his GT40 into the woods backwards on only his 2nd lap on track. No injury, and amazingly only minimal damage to the rear of the car where it hit a tree. Also, the sister of the owner of the other McLaren had a serious off in a gorgeous 906 he also owns and flipped the car into the air, whereupon it landed upside down on its nose in a big clump of bushes. She was fine (I think the bushes saved her & the car), and the car "only" suffered multiple bodywork fractures, and appeared to have no frame damage. But it was a scary wreck. She was in the C/novice run group, but was going along at a good clip, and lifted in a decreasing radius, fast right hander. Yikes! |

That's awesome Dave, sounds like an all around great weekend. Danica is on the top of my list after watching how she handled TK in a celebrity race earlier this year. |

Speaking of Can-Am cars: I just spent last Fri-Sun driving an early McLaren, as well as one of the only 2 Canadian Asturs, at Roebling Road in Georgia, dicing it up with Brian Redman, Bobby Rahal, David Hobbs, Danica Patrick (in her Rahal Toyota Atlantic formula car) and many others. No Lolas present, but there was another later McLaren, a bunch of Porsches (906, 908s, 935, 962's, etc.), a 333SP, a 512BB-LM, a 360 Challenge, a bunch of Chevrons, etc etc etc... What an experience! I especially liked the McLaren (picture of me after coming off track attached). |

Jim, I was at the tech session last year at WWoC and snapped a bunch of pics of your MK-IV as it was the first I have seen in person. Then you started it up towards the end and drove it away, I was amazed as it never dawned on me that it was street legal. Very cool. |

When the Agapiou brothers built the Can-Am car, did they build a copy of the G7-A? |

The following is what I believe to be true: J9 and J10 were spare tubs that were given to the Aggipou brothers who build J10 into a Can Am car and J9 into a spare. J10 crashed. It was stripped and the remains of it's tub were thought to be scrapped/stolen. Then somehow it was sold to someone in LA who tried to turn it into a MK-IV. Many $ later the project was sold via a dealer in NY to three gentlemen who have some connection to ERA. As far as I know it remains an unfinished project. |

Jim: I'm a big Ford GT fan myself. I grew up in Dearborn about a mile from Kar Kraft, so you can understand why. I was wondering if you know anything about the Mk IV chassis that was for sale in Autoweek several years ago. It was supposedly the G7-A, the failed Group 7 car. I heard it was sold to someone who rebodied it as a Mark IV. |

That would be me and that would be true. I've put about 20,000 road miles on my MK-IV over the last ten years. |

Jim,. I think you misread Art's comment. He was being sarcastic. I know many F-events where non-F-cars are more than welcome. You don't expect to see them at Cavallino or the annual FCA event but on regular trackdays they will be there. Nice cars. Damn, they would make a great addition to my garage as well. |

On another thread about bringing non Ferraris to Ferrari events:"It's because we are at the top of the food chain and they aren't." On a June day in 1967 the closest Ferrari to the winning Ford MK-IV was 135 miles behind. My Ferrari dealer, Wide World of Cars, was happy to display my MK-IV and my Lola at their event.
