Ryanab, you're more lucky. On this side of the Port Mann bridge, the only Ferrari I see is mine!

My hometown, Shanghai, People's Republic of China

When I was there the summer of '01, saw a Blue 456 and a yellow 355 spider. The 456 had a military plates and tinted windows...no to be messed around with in my country.

Yes, the communist country likes to have its share of Italian exotics as well. The dealership in Shanghai was only an importer at the time when I was there; which means your have to have your car shipped to Hong Kong for major repairs.

Dunno what the status is now...will visit in April.

Ken, now before you criticize our fair city of Chicago, think of the positives. Lots of stop signs serve the dual purpose of allowing you to sit and be admired, then test the acceleration of your car. Cold weather--F-cars LOVE to run in the cool, thin air. Plenty of ornery cops to keep an eye on you and make sure you maintain proper driving habits. Lack of parking means you get to spend even more time behind the wheel. I could go on...

Dan,
That's why I like living here. Stanford was full of F355s one day I had to visit. I think my jaw broke from falling to the ground so many times.

Hey Kevin,

Missed you today in the F50. You are correct, there are Ferrari's out here on the Eastside, just not driven that much. You tend to see the same ones over and over (I think I saw Willis the other day...can't be too many Asian guys driving black 360's at Microsoft). There is a red 360 that lives up the street from me--and gets left out at night fairly often. While I realize it is technically "just" a car, I have a hard time leaving my wife's Jetta out at night, much less an F-Car!

By the way, the F50 has one of the sweetest exhaust notes I have heard. Makes me smile...

That's so wierd - I am a menlo grad, class of '99. By the way, Menlo (not MA, the public school, but Menlo School (private) is in Atherton, not MP. But yeah, the bay area IS the coolest place.

I would say Hong Kong. Too many rich men with too much cash (although the property market was down for more than 60% in these few years). You could even find two Mercedes CLK-GTR AMG.
Just a five minutes drive from Central to the Peak I could see a lot of Porsches, more Mercedes than taxis and may be two to three F-cars.

One of the cheapest place to buy a second hand F-car in the world as well.

hey chris, that was me last week. did you see me today, too? :-)

I dont think seattle's eastside is good for seeing ferrari's though. However, I do think that the "per capita" ownership of ferraris is probably higher than anywhere else - just they aren't driven as much.

Munich...AUTOBAHN, the Alps with their 'natural tracks' are within an hour, Italy ( if yoy need an ego-boost ) is within 3 hours..and what a drive it is to Italy...,amazing race tracks within a day's drive,Dealers and Tuners like Koenig Specials...
...the ultimate for those who actually want to drive their Ferrari, not only valet it ;o)

Or you drive it in the Rockies with a pitstop in Aspen....endless winding mountain roads all for yourself...

how about Nashville...good luck ;o )

Vancouver....HA. I've only ever seen three Ferrari's there, a 360 and a silver 550 (yours?) and a black 355, and I know the guy with the 360, so it doesn't really count.

I may be wrong, but Marin County, California. One of the highest income areas in the world, with its own Ferrari dealer, Ferrari of SF, an area where there is substantial new wealth, and a lot of young people who have that wealth. 360s are relatively plentiful, and 348s, and 355s are common. When I go to Mill Valley for dinner, it isn't unusal for my 355 to be outside in valet parking with 2, 3 other 355s or 360s. All that in a county with a population of maybe 250k. And, the roads aren't bad either. Used to be something called the Sunday Morning Ride there, where the motorcyclists would take a little ride out to the beach early Sunday morning when there wasn't a race that weeked. Great fun. Works for the Ferrari too.

In the US, Palm Beach or South Beach. Outside the US, without a doubt, Monaco. You actually get sick of the 355's that you keep on seeing all the time.

just to rule out a city, i'll through houston in the air. although you will see the newer cars occasionally, the owners here don't drive their ferraris that often. the car culture here is more structured around the comfort as we tend to sit in traffic quite a bit.

Dr Tommy - nope; been a few years since I lived in Bay Area, but that is where I saw my 1st Lambo LP400 Countach, Lotus Esprit, Dino, et al. I worked in a forein auto parts store in Palo alto and that's where we would go to check out the exotics

Redmond/Bellevue (Seattle East Side)is good--I have seen a Ferrari every day for the last week and a half on my way to/from work. Including an F50 last week.

Ross is right, London is good also. We were there for a week, by the end of the time you just expected a few a day. Not that I'm complaining one bit...it sure beat those weird tiny Mercedes in Paris...

Dallas only has nice weather and long open straight roads going for it.

Personally I would prefer slow twisties and a more scenic view than billboards, liquor stores, and strip clubs.

Chicago sucks. Too short a season and all the roads are straight and flat. Anywhere in the Northeast and Pacific Northwest are great. Twisty roads with hills! But the NW has front airdam ambushes so be careful!

doesn't matter where if you own the car.
few concentrated areas with more than average numbers. Miami Beach definetely the place.

At my office building we have a 360 Spider, my 348TS and a M-Coupe, besides a S Series Benz, a Porsche 996 and 2 CLKs, all parked in the overhang at the only reserved parking spaces. I should take a picture of that! The other day I also had next to my car the Challenge car at the office, so 3 Ferrari and all the others.

Ross - spot on about London - there are actually TOOO many Ferraris in London.
Never see TRs/550s/F40/F50 etc though.

The ultimate has got to be a place where the weather is good - all year round - a friend recommends Puerto Banus near Mallorca. California, Florida..... hmmmm

St Tropez / Monaco in the summer too see them ,

Paris to enjoy them . Or the "arriere pays niois" to drive them like they are meant to be..
The St tropez - monaco route by the moutains ( where Grace kelly died ) is one of the most gorgoeous road in the world and quite a challenge ..You better have Brembo brakes.

David,

The car is not mine, but is one I sold a few months ago. I posted the picture because I just loved the way the car looked in that color. Yes..the car did come from CA, and yes, it had a salvage title. If I recall correctly, the car was rear-ended.

You know the car? Small world. :-)

for spotting, london, monaco, and geneva, in that order. london has so many ferraris that they are commonplace now. i must see 5 a day and thats just on my commute. throw in lambos, astons, maseratis, more porsches than you can throw a stick at (5 boxsters park on my street), etc etcetc.
for driving it sucks big time, traffic now moves through london at the mind numbing speed of around 3 mph during the day and maybe double that in the evening.

The Prugnia 355 on your profile, is it yours? If so is that the car from L.A. with a tortured past?

Miami/Miami Beach, Florida. Very very often, I see
Ferraris on the road. It is not uncommon to see 360 Coupes, Spiders, 328s and 355 Spiders; even the occasional Lambo and Lotus. And even now and then, I catch Martin cruising in his
348ts...could never catch him to say hello though. :-)

Smooth roads and weather conditions are usually perfect here for year round exotic use. Unfortunately, the roads and highways here are much too straight.

Come to South Beach on any weekend, and you will see a car show cruising up and down Ocean Drive.

Just wondering what you guys thought.

I have to say its L.A.

I went to a pub tonight to meet my some friends. On the way there I stopped for gas and cash. At the station a Red 348 burbbled by like any other Joe traffic schmoe. On the way there a Red 308 passed me in the hills. At the pub someone popped in with a silver 360 (didn't see who though).

We have got a wide variety of road types, conditions and surfaces and people with more money than they know what to do with.

Anybody from other towns with good a contingent of F-cars.
