On the 250 GTE, the brake fluid cap says FIAT on it, but most have been painted over!

I'm new to this forum but hear goes;

I understand that the Mondial uses Fiat X19 headlight lifts, Alfa Spyder external door handles, Alfa internal dash vents.

I am always amazed at the quantity of Lucas jokes that emerge whenever the name is mentioned.

Most Lucas switches have three positions, "Off", "Dim", and "Flicker".

Oh Hans, Lucas was used generously on the old V-12's. Literally all of the electrical components were them. The odd Magnetti Marelli was thrown in for good measure (the token Italian content). Our GT4's toggle switches on the dash are Lucas as well, a fellow GT4'er had one melt on him... Keep an eye on them and don't try to use them (or as little as possible).

My 330GTS had Fiat front signal lights, backup lights, licence lights, heater controls, gas tank gasket...

It also had Whitworth-threaded bolts mounting the cooling fans....

i am sure that my '92 348 ts had mostly fiat parts in the dash and all the switches and stalks. the 512tr doesn't seem as cheap, but i am sure that if you looked hard enough you would find plenty of fiat stuff in there too. and other than the most obvious stuff, they are right to do it and save themselves money. what we need to do as consumers is put together that list of other oem parts that fit for less......

John, I don't know the part number as this was done around 1991 or so. What I did was take the panel out and carried it t o a Fiat repair shop who matched it up out of a Fiat/Lancia parts book he had.

Had an engine relay on my 86 328GTS go out - mechanic replaced it with identical Porsche relay! $90.00 - I guess via Ferrari I could have added another 0 to the front side??

Frank - I sure would love the part number for that switch - same prob for me!

Some of the emission controls ar made by GM. GM still supplies some of the fuel injection and emission components on Jaguars which is Ford owned.

Rob...
As to your question about GM parts on your Ferrari, I believe that the OE battery in that car was made by Delco.

The Lamborghini diablo vt roadster uses Alfa rear hood hinges(found the Alfa sticker wright on the hinge!) Lambo also uses Fords pressure feed back sensor found on 4 cylinder tempos. I belive the pop up head light units on 308's are Fiat,The rear wheel bearings on 308's are the same as an Audi Quatro. And I was told (I have know idea if this is true) that the syincros in the 308 tranny are Porsche.

I've mentioned this before but the fuel sender (inside the tank)for a 308 GT4 and I believe the 308GTB/S is the same as the ones on Fiat spiders. Ferrari wants about $400 for the whole assembly, the Fiat assembly is different but the sender unit (which can be removed)is the same and is around $100. Only difference is the color of the housing (can't see it any way).

Since a Ferrari IS a Fiat like a Chevy is a GM , all Ferrari parts would be Fiat parts, right ?

You can, and I have, found a lot of Fiat/Lancia parts that will fit on a Ferrari. On my 328GTS I had the ac/heater control console panel go bad. The dealer wanted around $800 for a new one. I found one from Lancia that was EXACTLY the same for $150 I recall. I also replaced a few electrical parts for my TR with some Fiat parts that were the same for less than 1/2 the cost. If ye seek, ye shall find !

But they (308) DON'T use Fiat $6.95 dist caps and $1.35 dist rotors or $39.95 water pumps - yet they are ALMOST identical - just different ebough to jump the rices to $295.00 per cap, no rotors and $500.00 water pumps

I spent way too much for a new correct 80-82 cig lighter at the LA national FCA meet last May. I get home THAT SAME WEEKEND to find an 83 FIAT X1/9 in my driveway that my mother bought at a garage sale (long story). It had the exact same lighter I just bought for 3 billion dollars. She said I could have it if I wanted it. I was so pissed.

My father-in-law was stationed in Italy in the 70's and he had a 246 Dino. Had a water pump go out - the local shop replaced it with a fiat water pump and sent him on his way. Guess they were exactly the same.

with most of the parts sourced in italy it would be difficult not to. i know my old fiat has the same type of ignition key as my older ferraris have had (neiman).

It would make sense that they do. Relays, alternators, tie rods, switches, ect. Costs less to get something off the shelf rather than make something specific, you just have to know what it is and what it came off of.

I dont think so . Do the models in the current line up use any Fiat parts ?
I remember that in the eighties Alfa and Ferrari shared some interior parts ( air vents ) but is it still the case today ?
