W hart - Called Frank (said Hi!) he knows Mike Tillson, who worked for him at Algar, as Jim said. Called Mike, who's shop is called Mike Tillson Motorcars Service. He's looking for any records on the car I'm interested in. Mike told me Cignatta Motorworks is in Bel Air, Maryland, so I got their number off the internet. Waiting on a return call from them.

Internet searches work much better when you've got the correct spelling...

Magoo - The guy I'm buying from has only had the car for a few months, and he has been trying to get the records from, not his seller, but the seller before him. Thus the delay. It's kinda complicated, so I hate to bore you guys with the whole story. The car is very nice cosmetically, and a local shop did a cursory inspection and didn't see anything unusual.

If this was too easy, I probably wouldn't appreciate it as much.

Thanks for the help!
Ron

Ron, I know the thrill of owning a Ferrari is overwhelming but don't let it cloud your good judgement. This guy should provide these documents to you. If he wants to sell the car then he should run them down and give you the info. It kinda sounds like he doesn't want to provide to much help in retrieving them. Be careful and let this guy do some of the chasing and produce the documents. This should be a red flag to you. You might want to consider having it checked out by a Ferrari Tech. before purchasing it. Money well spent.

That would be Mike Tilson's in west Philly near 63rd and City Ave. I used his service once for CV boots and was pleased. He's a former Algar mechanic with many years experience.

Never heard of either of them, but if you call frank donatoni at 610 886 1000 he could probably help you. Frank currently runs a Porsche dealership outside of Philly, but worked at and managed Algar Ferrari in Phila since the early 70's. If anybody would know, he would...(say hello for me, he's the best!).

Hello All,

My first post. I've been lurking for a while, and I finally have a question that is too important not to ask.

I'm from Dallas, Texas, and I'm purchasing my first Ferrari (yea), a 308 GTSi. I'm trying to get the service history on the car. The current owner hasn't received the records from a previous owner, but in a previous owner's ad it was mentioned that two shops had done work on the car. I want to contact both shops, but I'm not able to find them on the internet, so I'm hoping some of you can help me locate and reach them.

They are...
Cignata's in Maryland, and
Tilton Motorsports in Philadelphia.

Seller claims they are "top... famous" Ferrari shops, so here's hoping they actually exist.

Thanks,
Ron
