I agree with Peter. I think Ferrari used the F106 engine code for all the 308's 74-86. |

Sorry, from the sounds of it, you were asking about the model designation, not the actual sequential number. Okay, in that instance, here's what it really is:
Which is F106AL. I've never heard of 308's carrying F108.... |

Here is that letter they sent me. I do not think a Heritage Certificate is available for a 78 model Ferrari. I think they're only available for pre-70's cars or something. I couldn't get one for mine. |

Peter your (L) didn't work for me. So I put a 1 (Number) in place of the L or I letters that I have used and their computor accepted it which turned out to be 5 numbers with no letters. I also had to delete Letters and numbers preceeding 5 digit Chassis number. As to the engine number they wanted the entire set of numbers and letters. Now we'll see if they can find the car? Thanks for you comments. |

I am going to try L next. It is interesting that all my numbers on the car begin with F106A(L) |

Dr. Tommy: I'm looking at it, but I still can't see what it says. I agree w/ Oliver. What does this smudged up metal stamp stuff say? 3121(?) F10?A? Ranks right up there with 'how much oil do I use?', 'which diff fluid is best?', etc. |

Here's a picture of mine. I sent my info in last Aug and got a letter back from FNA from a guy named Enzo (no kidding) with a short history on my car. I posted the letter a while back. I'll do it again for you. |

As far as I'm aware, engine, tranny and chassis numbers are all five digits with 308's. Mine: Chassis- 10576 Engine- 01218 Tranny- 01205 |

As most of you know Ferrari World will issue a Hertiage Certificate if you give them some numbers off the vehical. One of which is the gearbox number. My 78 308 GTS number is on the tranny, but one letter the sixth is difficult to read. I think it is an I (letter)and not a 1 (number). Have any of you had this problem? Is that character always the same on the 78 308's and if so tell me what it is. This is VERY frustrating! |
