It's going fine. I have fallin into the "might as well" area of the restoration. It has been painted with an all black bottom and a red top. Which is all I was going to do. What I have added to the restoration are the wheels, some electrial, seats, exterior trim, wheel bushings, correct tires, new exhaust, new shifter assembly (long story), new front turn signals ($800 a pop might I add) new carpet and new Ferrari emblems. I am picking up the car at the end of the Month. I'll post pic's when I get it back

A)F50.... B)Runs.... C)Restored.... D)Just wanted to get rid of it.

A + B + C does not equal D.

Yes, too good to be true.

Thanks Arlie,

I am not in it for the money, I am in it for the car and the joy of the drive. I agree with you, as time moves on, there will be less and less of these cars around. It will be important to save them in the future. 250 GT's were disposable at one point. Now they are multi-million dollar cars. I am not say a 512BB is in that catagorie but I am not restoring a 76 datsun b210 either.

When it's done next year (and $30k later), I'll have to drive it to your place!

the guy said it was all there and it ran, said it had water damage but it had been restored, he said someone had given him the car, when i asked him why it was so cheap he said he had a countash (sp) and just wanted to get rid of it, i didnt believe it either, just to good to be true

Not possible.

The car did not exist.

It's an F50, what does it matter what type if TITLE it has?

There is no way a non-burned F50 would go for so little. There is NO interior to speak of. Electronics, wiring, drivetrain/brakes rebuild, and what other small details needed to bring it back would not cost over $100,000.

Let me into an F50 for $200,000?? DONE!!

Urban Legend.....I live in NYC, if anybody believed the F50 story...I hear there is a bridge around here for sale.

i saw that ad and called it the first day it came out, it was on saturday, the guy on the phone answered all the questions right but something sounded fishy, he said he was on the way out the door and to call back on monday, when i called back and asked him for the Vin# he said he had to go downstars and get it off the pink slip and to call him back in an hour, when i called back he said the car was sold, im in L.A. and the car was in Vegas or i would have gone right over, i was thinking i should have jumped in the car right then on saturady and headed to Vegas to check it out but it sounded to good to be true, i guess well never know, its just gona go down as one of those urban legends LMAO

More power to you Matt. It looks like you're into your "labor of love" for the long haul. One thing that seems to seperate the Ferrari guys (you excluded) from the average car buff is the continuing return to the "bottom line" thinking. If the numbers can't be crunched to show that a certain car "is" or "will be" worth the money put into it, then the car is a loser. I find that thinking very strange, since the Ferrari marque seems to be filled with rabid enthusiasts. However, the enthusiasm seems to disappear if the car in question can't show a profit potential on paper; either in the restoration expenses versus potential value, or in the actual resale later on.
One would think that the rabid Ferrari enthusiasm would demand that ANY car with the prancing horse logo should be saved!

That horsefly...is the question of life.

Remember the crap I got about my Boxer? I'm into it now for 36K. It's getting painted now. I have about another 20 - 30 K and I will have a AHHSOME car..

But this brings about the same old question: If the car is completely intact, why would you part it out to repair another car that was missing some of its parts? If the other car is missing parts, shouldn't it be parted out long before a completely intact car is parted out?

You could definately get well over $50 in parts from it, the only catch would be there might not be a big market for F50 parts.

I called the guy and he was half a sleep, and said that it sold for $75k. The only thing that had been restored was the leather seats. The car was a salvage tittle, and who knows what was wrong with the car. The entire wireing harness would have to be replaced, engine, and trans rebuilt, but aside from that

For $50k, I would buy it if it was fully submerged. This can't be a good price.....

Found this in the www.recycler.com autos section: A drivable F50 for 50k. How bad can this water damage be?
