The story is that I can save a lot of $$ by bringing a car from Europe...that is it.

Thanks guys! I was thinking about bringing the car on euro plates this way I would not have to worry about the tech inspection. The only problem is that I would have to ship the car back to Europe once per year. That is still cheaper but scarry...I just don't trust the shipping companies.

The process is quite involved. Import regulators will not ship a Euro car to a private individual. You have to find a conversion shop in the states to do the actual shipping for you. The shop must keep the car until all work is done.

An authorized shop in L.A. I spoke to said complete conversions on Ferraris are anywhere from $10K to $30K depending on the model. Like a late model TR would run about $20 to bring up to U.S. spec. If you find a car for $35K or $40K in Europe conversion costs will put you in the price range of a fair used U.S. model defeating the price primium of a cheaper Euro car.

Once again, how much will the car cost you there and to ship. What model Ferrari? Will the car be new enough to still be under warranty? And would you rather have a Euro than a U.S. car?

You could use your non-US side to run the paper work and drive it around in the US with your non-US tags for up to a year I think. You'd save on the price of the car and service should be no problem , insurance might be a little bit of a hassle to handle but should be no big deal to work it out. Being also a US I'm not sure if you'd be crossing the line It'd depend on your physical residence would be my guess

If you want to buy it there and register it in the US do a search as the topic has been beaten to death here.

Are you talking about bringing a new car here? Are you asking whether to buy it there and bring it here or buy it here when you get here because of price? Or are you bringing a older Ferrari to the U.S.? Your post is too vague.

I'm a citizen in Europe and US. Would it make more sense to bring Ferrari from Europe?
