Porsches mentioned on the same message board as Ferrari's?? What IS the world coming to? I drove my first Boxster (friend's) about two months ago - what a dog. Woof woof. I told him I'd take him for a REAL ride sometime soon. He's still waiting too haha. |

this is really too funny ;o) I somehow do not believe the whole story...sounds to me more like a kindergarten story ;O)LOL. btw, I'm neutral and I don't judge people by their cars ( even so some car groups make this very hard for me ). Fact is that the P guys took your place because you let them do it...if the place is so important to the fkc club, then why was there no contract with the restaurant in place ).And they are probably having a beer right now in their new meeting room, reading the chat, rolling on the floor...you gave them exactly the reaction they wanted to trigger. I agree that if this is a one time thing it is pretty funny and I bet many Ferrari guys would have done this too...If this was not a one time thing then you are in fact dealing with a group of people who have major stress with themselves and this is their way to vent. People are only mean and try to harm because they have problems and insecurities.. Don't open up opportunities for them and if it hits the fence..ignore them, even though it's though for the ego...it will save you lots of nerves and the result will be the same ;O) At least that is my experience and I have to deal with many of those guys ;o) Amen Markus Playersrun.com...zero problemo with paking lots here ;o) |

We've had joint Ferrari-Porsche events here in Austin and I have found them to be wonderful people. Every one in their club that I have met are gearheads and great people. Sounds like you have a bunch of jerks who happen to drive Porsches. |

If it was a one time thing, I would think it was pretty funny. But it's obviously a real problem; I too wonder what the restaurant was thinking. Diplomacy is always the best bet, but in case you want to get them back, make a bunch of "For Sale" signs with stupid cheap prices and put them on their windshields. |

Sorry to hear that BJ. I also am in Toronto and have found most of the Ferrari guys here to be nice. My car isn't on the road yet and still at all the track events I've gone to, people have let me ride in their cars (passenger seat of course). Porsche guys seem to me like spoiled rich kids playing with daddy's money. Of course that's a generalization, but still... |

If Chris cannot sort out things in the interest of both clubs, I say go for a counter attack. Since they showed up anywhere from 30-60 minutes earlier than your 0830 time, suck it up for one weekend of the month and plan to arrive in force at say 0630-0700. Establish your ground and wait awhile to order your food. BS and drink beverages until PeeClub guys start to arrive, then order you food. Wouldnt it be fun to see the look on their faces when they realize you countered them? Or better yet, maybe this will break the ice and everyone will get along. The worst case is that they come in the next month at 0600-0630 only to be leaving or have left as you guys go back to your original 0830 link up time.

agree w/ chris to take the high road. don't bring yourself to the level of people whose behaviour you have just deplored. anyway, its not the cars, its the people. chris, aren't you a member of some country club around there, where you can have all the space you want? if not then another idea might be to find another/better restaurant. the other alternative is to simply reserve the room and parking lot(s), as you would for any table, and confirm it w/ a credit card; for the next 5 years......and maybe even guarantee some kind of minimum charge as well. |

Not all Porsche owners are this way, I owned 2 911s myself and found the "arrogant" type of owner typically has no knowledge about Porsche history or heritage, they simply bought a new car to show all they have "arrived". Ferrari is the ultimate, bar none, we represent Ferrari as owners and need act above the actions of lesser owners and their cars while taking the high road as we have or need to prove nothing.

As with so many topics this tends to 'morph' into something else.... To go with the flow: It seems that most forums like this one have decent, friendly guys, regardless of car owned. But.... As for other groups, it seems to depend upon how new/expensive the car is. New Maranello owners seem, well not snobby, but rather aloof and distant. They won't snub you, but somehow you don't feel welcome. That guy in the corner with the ratty 'GT4 will talk your leg off. Now, this is strictly a generalization, with the limitations of such. At a recent dyno event, one guy in a 360 was polite, but wouldn't give the time of day to the 'great unwashed'. However, the gent in the F50 (Page Stevens) is one seriously great guy. The other participants had all manner of cars, and we had a great time. If you want to see a Ferrari snob, talk to Rob Garven. LOL! (If you haven't met Rob, just tell him that you are interested in Ferraris, and HANG ON!) |

Just to make sure no one interprets anything incorrectly, I don't like Porsches, the cars. The owners are impossible to group as a whole, but I too have found them to much more prone to ahole comments on the street. I can't say I have ever come across a Ferrari owner that went out of his way to say something stupid at a traffic light, etc, I can say this about several Pcar owners though. Nevertheless, whenever I meet someone with a Pcar I treat him as I would anyone else, I don't stereotype them until they make some stupid comment. As far as the cars, I don't like them, that's my opinion, everyone has their own. I don't want you guys to think I single out Pcars though, I hate a lot of cars to be honest. |

I have been in both clubs for about equal amounts of time. While I know there are alot of nice Porsche guys out there, I have found that for the most part they are not as friendly as the Ferrari owners I have met. Now, I must admit the biggest jerk I know is a Ferrari F512M owner, so there are jerks on both sides of this story. I just wish the P car people would have thought this out a little better, I hate being put into a corner! But I think it will work out....... Chris |

In my experience, most of F-car owners are not nice to young people like me. I had met an owner of red F355 spider here (Toronto) few months ago. I asked him few questions about maintenance costs, etc. I also mentioned him that I am looking to buy one next year. Do you know what his response was? He looked at me, and told me that if I can afford the car why do I care about the maintenance cost? Maybe, he's too honest to tell only the truth, however i think he's just too cocky and rude to someone who don't have a F-car. Obviously, you can tell his cocky attitude by his voice tone. I hope, people here are not like him. |

I have feet on both sides of this argument. I have owned Porsche's longer and have a great response from other Porsche owners. Ferrari owners online, particularly those on www.pistonheads.com are as mad as I am but the one local 360 Spider owner near to me in the UK is an arogant tw@t. People are people, don't blame the cars. Richard |

Tell them you heard that their new SUV is such a stunning success that a minivan is on the drawing board. There use to be two great sportscar companies in the world...now there is only one and it is Italian. I have run several events at Roebling Road with several groups, often with various Porsche drivers. They routinely have been the most inconsiderate on the track and most standoffish towards me. Although I did enjoy the fact the my 512 simply did all the talking for me on the track. I have always had the feeling that most of the Porsche guys felt they had something to "prove" to the Ferrari guy when they saw my car. I guess that is flattery of the highest order. |

No matter how they cut it, they're still a bunch of dildos for knowingly taking your spot in the lot and the restaurant. Come on, coincidence they take the exact spots and show up exactly half an hour earlier. Practical jokes are funny between friends, they're not practical jokes when they're done by people you don't know, then they're just being aholes. Example: If I gym short one of my best friends when we're playing football in the snow it's hilarious and we'll all laugh (except him who might try to peg me or something), at the same time though if I gym short some random guy on campus I'll probably get clocked. That said, Chris is going about this the right way and not going down to their level. |

reading through thier posts I must say I do not believe that was a practical joke. They know about the F-club meeting there, they knew when and they set their time earlier on purpose. This is my post in their site: "Aparently you guys can not even respond to how you want to take the situation that the Ferrari Club has been meeting there for years and you are coming to take their space. Kind of sad to see the attitude of the Porsche owners not taking the Ferrari owners into consideration that have used that site for years. Chris, maybe you should follow my suggestions. To that Porsche Chapter....you are one sorry bunch!" |

my post on the P car site: Let me introduce myself, I am the Kansas Director of the Ferrari Club of America. I am also a past 911T, 911, 911SC, C2 Porsche owner, in fact my family owned the Porsche dealerships in Tulsa and Richardson, TX for over 20 years. So I have earned my Porsche stripes over the years. I can tell you that the Ferrari Club is in the middle of conversations with LePeeps to try and accomodate both clubs. We have been at LePeeps for several years, we agree with your reasons for liking LePeeps. The problem exists that the parking lot at the bank can not accomodate both Porsches and Ferrari's. We asked, and got permission to park there on Saturday mornings. Did you ask the bank if it was ok to park there? While we welcome the Porsche Club to LePeeps, to say that we are thrilled to see Porsches in the parking area we have used and had permission to use over the last few years would not be accurate. I am sure you can see our point. I am surprised that the officers of the Porsche club have not been in contact with us. As a courtesy, I can assure we would not have invaded Perkins without talking to your club. We realize that you meet every Saturday and we only meet on the first Saturday of every month, so from LePeep's posistion, your club is an asset, but LePeps has been our home for a long time and Tom Ryan, the General Manager has assured he will do whatever is necassary to keep us there. We are trying to find solutions to accomodate both clubs. What is currently being proposed is to rope off a new area on the first weekend just for the Ferrari Club. On the first weekend of the month, because of the size of both clubs, only the Ferrari club will have the upstairs meeting room. The Porsche club will be located on the first floor on that weekend. If this can not be done, would the Porsche club consider letting us use the parking area at the bank on the first Saturday of the month as we have used over the last several years? I hope to have LePeeps answer on Friday as to how both clubs can enjoy this restaurant. The Ferrari Club does like the idea of both clubs meeting there assuming a solution can be found to the parking issue, the idea of a Porsche or a Ferrari parked next to a Buick is not appealing! I hope in the future we can work together. We do have some members with P cars so it should be in both of ours best interest to make this enjoyable for all the car lovers! If your officers would like to discuss this, my office number is 913 663 2008. Sincerely, Chris Parr

I would bury their site with pics of your cars. Harmless, but funny. Reminds me of the movie The Outsiders with the greasers and soshes fighting over turf. |

Ok, here's the scoop, looks like some are members of both clubs and official or unofficial they wanted to "share" with the Ferrari club. However, reading through their post they have some infighting between Perkins and Le Peep's... http://www.smiley.net/kcrpca/forum/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=13 Don't do it yet, but a funny practical joke would be to have all the users on FC post gobs of Ferrari info, pics of Ferraris beating VW's - I mean Porsches, and other funny stuff. Their little board only has maybe 50 messages total! We would overwhelm them.

Well let me start by saying that I enjoy Porsches just as much as any car... And have thoughts about buying a VW Super Beetle convertible for a weekend play toy... Yes I guess in a few folks eyes that alone makes me the prince of darkness, but what the hell. It seems to me the most civilized way to take care of this little problem would be to find out who the president of the local Porsche club is, and then while they are enjoying breakfast at your hangout, your bunch should show up and park outside his house and enjoy your catered breakfast there.

I like Tom's idea. Also like the Trailer idea! Really do not think it is cool from the restaurant owner to give away what you have used for a long time. After all you had these meetings organized for a while and that should always give you some leverage. I would block off the parking lot, trash their next meeting and would get Doughnuts and coffee from someplace else and eat it outside the restaurant or have something catered to your trailer and have your meeting at the trailer in the bank parking lot to show the restaurant owner what a he is! Then find a new place to hold your meetings. |

I'd go with Tyler, see if it's possible to get the parking lot specially reserved for F-cars. Treat the director with a ride orso, I know I would go with the you guys then (mmm now I only need to own a bank like that ;) ). And it think nobody would disagree with you being angry, it really is a rude action of those guys.

I agree, the restaurant owner/manager is the problem here. Unfortunately, physical violence won't really solve anything. Economic violence, on the other hand.... Find out who owns the note on the restaurant. Form a group of Fcar owners to buy out the loan, and then mention to the owner that you're not particularly forgiving people. That should give you leverage, and the worse case scenario is that you get to open the "ristorante del cavallo" under new management

Chris, have you checked to see if the president of the bank likes Ferraris? If so, have your guys offer him rides in exchange for parking on that morning and have him join you for breakfast. That might solve your problem and you might get another Ferrari fan in the process. My experience with Porsche people is similar. They tend to be arrogant jerks. Funny how the worst of them tend to be as you said, "wanna be's". |

Bret, funny you should mention my transporter! I was thinking the same thing! My transporter is 70' long, I was thinking I could block 70' of parking, moving forward when each Ferrari shows up! We could get there at 7:30, but man that is a high price to pay for a waffle! |

Alright, for those of you that don't know, I think Porsche's are the bastards of cars and you would much sooner see me give one of them the finger before a wave (notice I said sooner, no I don't go around giving them all the finger). They're stupidly designed, a whore to work on, and are nothing but a fancy VW. For those of you that say a Ferrari is fancy Fiat, give me friggin break, one hell of a stretch (are they designed by the same man, have them been together since day one, etc). Granted on occasion I'm known to dabble in niceness, but that's only temporary delusions. I have also noticed at least 90% of the owners I come in contact with to be a-sholes. You can tell I like them a lot. I say either park your transporter across the entrance and exit of the parking lot next time and leave it there all morning while you Fcar guys eat, let the Pcar guys wait. My favorite though would be some sneaky tire slashing or at least a couple nails up against the tires, come on, we're Italian here aren't we? |

Its just that group of guys there. You know people are the same where ever you go. some are good and some are bad. Sometimes there is some truth to stereotypes tho. Good luck with that situation. |

I know, if you don't have anything nice to say.... But I have to vent! The local Ferrari club has been meeting at a restaurant for breakfast the first Saturday of every month for several years. We love this place because there is a bank next door that is closed on Saturdays giving us a safe place to park our Ferrari's while still letting the public enjoy our cars. In addition, the restaurant is one of the few that has a meeting room available on a Saturday morning. The waitress knows all of us and she is so good, she always has our drinks to us before we can even sit down! Well......... The local Porsche guys knew this was our spot. The Ferrari club meets here at 8:30. Well we showed up for breakfast only to find the parking lot full of Porsches! The Porsche jerks now meet there at 8:00! They took all of OUR parking (No other parking is Ferrari friendly) They conned their way into our meeting room as well! This is the rudest group of people I have ever met, they just sat there and laughed when we showed up! What a bunch of wanna be's! I have never seen so much plad and pocket protectors in all my life! I have never met a car guy I did not like, chevy guys, Ford guys, Hell I even like these kids that are building these Honda's, at least they have passion for cars. But, the Porsche group in KC is about as low as you can get........... Hey, just my opinion.......
