I always open the bonnet and let the heat out when I pull into the garage and my opener works great. Maybe what you need in the garage are some "COOL CATS" like our other chat member. Just kidding.

I ENJOY WALKING INTO MY GARAGE AND SEEING MY BABY JUST SITTING THERE AND SHINNING BACK AT ME. THE ONLY TIME I USE MY COVER IS WHEN I DRIVE MY MONDIAL TO THE GOLF CORSE. JUST CAN'T STAND TO LEAVE IT OUTSIDE NOT COVERED.AND YES IT DOES HEAT UP MY GARAGE. ALSO I CAN OPEN THE DOOR TO MY GARAGE WHEN I'M WATCHING F1 RACING AND VIEW THE FRONT OF MY FERRARI IT MAKES THE RACE EVEN BETTER.

The original cover that came with my car has some aluminizied fabric stitched over the place where the exhaust tips would touch the cover. The fabric in that spot is damaged -- either from heat or from rubbing on the edges of the exhausts.
I make it a habit of letting the car cool down for an hour or so before I cover it up.

I think Martin's right and the garage door is indeed trapping your car, I would do that if I was a garage door opener. Just have a long talk with it and explain that it too can enjoy the Ferrari, but it has to let you have fun as well.

Tom my 308 is really hot when I get home and I just throw the cover on. The first time I did I was a bit sketptical about it touching the exhaust tips and all, but now I've been doing it for months and it works fine. If anything I would think that it would be good because it would gently cool down the engine.

I have a heat question as well, although it does not pertain to my garage opener. When I get back home from a drive with my F355, the engine heat emitting from the back is amazing. After pulling into the garage I put the car cover and padding on immediately to keep my outdoor cats from scratching the car. But I don't cover the engine compartment until the car cools off. Which of course means that I have to guard the car from any cat that wants to curl up on the warm surface. This is a major pain in the A** if I come home late at night. Question...Do think it bad if I cover the engine compartment right away? It just seems like I am trapping a lot of heat. What do you think. It might be easer if I just get rid of the cats. :)

I can feel that heat issue as well. My 348 heats up increadible. Once car garage and if you clsoe the door it traps the heat. Came home last night at 12 and the heat was still there this morning!

But my garage door opener never acted up.

Maybe the garagedoor does notz want to part with the car and tried to trap the car inside....

I always park my 308 in the garage (which is a small two car garage), open the engine hood to check the oil, leave it open and close the garage door. I have never had a problem with the garage door opener....sorry.

I've had my garage door opener do the same thing. You probably have a problem in the electronics of your opener. In a little while you will notice this will happen more frequently. Then not work at all. More than likely it is the printed circuit board of the opener.

I know, it does sound a bit fishy. But, no evidence of a power outage or anything like that. The opener is about 6 years old, and has never acted up at all (except, of course, when I forgot to put a battery in the outside keypad transmitter, but that's a whole other story).

I don't know, sounds a little fishy to me. I've never had that happen to me with the garages but I guess it could happen. Was there a power outage or something during the time? How old is the opener? Keep doing it and see if it happens again.

Ok, maybe this is whining, but it was a PIA.

I've noticed in the past week or so (only had the car for that long!) that after you turn off the car, there's an incredible amount of heat coming through the engine cover. I closed up the garage one day after driving it, went back out there 30 minutes or so later, and the garage was pretty hot. So I just opened the outside door for a while, and let it cool off, since I didn't want the heat to fight with the A/C in the house.

Yesterday, I took the 348 out for a drive. When I returned, I had to leave immediately for a friend's house. So I parked the Ferrari in the garage, jumped in my other car, and left (closing the garage door of course). When I got back home about 8 hours later, the garage door opener wasn't working any more. It still had power, but it wouldn't operate. And in fact, it didn't work again until I unplugged the power and plugged it back in (a huge PIA, as the outlet it plugs into is on the ceiling).

So my best theory is that the opener got overheated, and tripped some kind of electronic thing in it that wouldn't allow it to operate until it was power-cycled.

Anyone ever had this happen? I know this is pushing it for Ferrari-related content, but no other car I've had gets so hot after driving...

Greg
