Thanks for the info, Kevin. Do I really think someone would pay an extra 50K for some carbon doo-dads and a fuzzy steering wheel? On a Ferrari? Um ... yeah. Anyway, sounds like a cool car. Glad you're pleased.

It has a revised lower stance due to the Competizione racing variant suspension, racing calipers, racing pads and cross-drilled rotors along with revised maps for the electronically controlled shock absorbers, larger anti-roll bars, stiffer springs and quicker steering...in short, the Serie drives like BOTH a race car and a gentleman's car depending on your mood. Do you really think someone would pay $50k more just for a little carbon fiber and a suede-covered steering wheel? The full specs are on on the FNA website. Like I said, it takes the F355 F-1 to a whole new driving experience! Kevin

KH, what mechanical alterations/improvements were made to the SF vs. F355?

Guys, I just bought a 1999 red/tan F355 F-1 Serie Fiorano (#8 of #100), 11k miles, all options and perfect condition for $175,000....at $195k the car is overpriced...as for whether anyone would pay the extra for the SF ..... ever driven one vs. the regular F355 F-1? it takes the driving experience to a totally new level....the package is more than cosmetic..Kevin

All the "Euros" that I've seen have the eighth place as a "B" and the ninth and tenth places as zeros ("0"). Mine is an 86 328GTS. This seems to agree with the later ones I've seen on E-Bay too.

BTW, the F355sifi is on consignment, and even the sales guy thinks it is over priced

Well I just called Stanford Euorpean since I couldn't read the vin from my pic. I didn't get to ask for the vin since the car is sold and I really didn't feel like pushing it. the sales druid did confirm that it was a US car sold originally by the dealer in Miami 1st onwer drove it about 600 miles then sold it to a dot commer who had it shipped to CA. He put another 1500 miles on it and that is where it stands. Kinda at least good that he remembered me from yesterday, and I wasn't ever driving my TR. Altho we were picking up Lambo parts, on that note if you think Ferrari is bad at parts and things just be thankful you don't own/drive/care for a Lambo.

So lets check the 8th digit.
Dr. Weiner has a Euro 360, what is your 8th digit?
Lets find a US 360 as well. Anybody here with one?

The 355 is a limited edition with serial number of #100. Obviously these cars have a higher value that your stock 355. If you would pay for that is a different story.

The 360 could be a Euro but at that price also could be a US. If I would have to take a guess it is a Euro. Just because it is at a non F-dealer at that price.

There was a post at one point where somebody had the keys to all the digits in the VIN. One was the market the car was delivered for. I could not find it in my favorites. maybe somebody else saved that link.

Ben,

I believe that from the VIN you could distinguish whether a car was originally intended for the US or Euro market, but none of the Ferrari VIN "decoders" that I know of are new enough to include 360s (anyone have the latest?).

SteveM - somehow I doubt that it was a Euro now if I can only remember if it had a warranty sticker, that would tell me for sure. So how does one tell if it's a Euro 360 (or 355 for that matter)? should I run the VIN thru Carfax? No I'm not buying just curious how to determine.

Yes the 355 is the top of it's class, but it does go to show that 360's can be had for under $200k (probably well under, even the local Hummer showroom had a 360 to unload). I don't know who does the pricing over there but I've long since thought that they were out of their mind. They also have a Red/Tan 88.5 Testarossa with low miles but evidence of repaint asking $90k ish, it's been there at least 6 months. I told them I can find 4 more same year around $50k each here in the Bay area and I know 2 folks that bought older ones for around $30k (ok higher miles, and not as nice condition too) but $90k is '92 - 512TR range.

Just felt like sharing.

Btw, I think the KBB window stickers are just stationary, designed to reassure the customer the price is correct (reasonable). A friend of mine recently returned his leased SUV when they put on of these stickers in the window (to resell it) I pretty much cracked up in laughter on the dealer lot ($40k for a 1 year old 15k mile SUV, yeah right)...

Ben,
as long as buyers are willing to pay these prices they won't come down. This situation is fueled(no pun intended) by the fact that Ferrari limits the production of new cars selling at sticker prices in its need to be exclusive.
So at my age not willing to wait 2 yrs or pay 50k above sticker I went euro.I love the car but wouldn't do it again!(especially buying a first yr producion car)
So,if one goes euro be prepared to be treated as a
pariah by FNA.

Ben -- Is that 360 a Euro conversion? Does seem a tad backwards, but isn't that 355 at the very top of it's family (spyder, F1, last year, SF, nice colors, etc.)? More like the 360 (berlinetta?) is underpriced rather than the 355 is overpriced IMHO (considering the US market only, of course -- especially if Palo Alto).

PS I wonder where they got these "asking prices" as being the actual Kelley Blue Book retail valuations -- I can't find any Ferrari information listed at http://www.kbb.com

I was going to post this in the "thinking about buying a Euro 360" thread then decided it may be better in it's own topic.

Not to continue to add fuel to this discussion of Euro vs. USA...but I found myself at one of my local exotic dealers (not a F dealer) yesterday snapped 2 interesting pics that I'd like to share.

Pic #1 window sticker of a 2000 - 360f1 Red/black I think with red calipers, had the challenge grill and SF shields for sure, 2,500 ish miles $189,900 (asking).

Pic #2 window sticker of a 1999 - 355sifi (Serie Fiorano) Yellow/black 3,700ish miles #42 of 100 $195,900 (asking).

Anyone else see this as weird?
