Yes the 360 was fine. Franco Valobra was just trying to symbolically define the mark. Other interesting facts in these photos: The one-off Ferrari Breadvan #16 was a modified (and famous) 250 SWB which Bizzarini built for Count Volpi to beat his ex-boss Enzo Ferrari in the 1962 Le Mans Race. The factory entered the #6 car, and Volpi and Bizzarini entered the Breadvan. It was the largest amount of Ferrari's ever entered in Le Mans history. The breadvan was leading all of the Ferrari GTO's, was fastest in the Muslsaunne straight and was gaining on the #6 car when the gearboxes in all three Volpi Ferraris all went out on the same lap (including the gearbox in the breadvan). Turns out all three were "look over" by the Ferrari factory before the race. When taken apart, all of them were missing the same parts. Coincidence? (BTW the owner of the car turned down $7 Million for it in the late eighties) Another interesting fact, the Challenge car in these photos is driven by ex-F1 current endurance racing ace Eric van der Poele. Look for him to win Le Mans this year in the factory Bentely. (and yes Eric has the track record, followed closely that day by Anthoney Lazzaro in a Ferrari 333SP) |
