Herr Klotz & Ms. Julia Meiner (sorry, i don't know how to say 'Ms.' in German):

Thank you so much for the information; we all really appreciate it... This is, hands down, my favorite car, ever. All this information just fuels my passion for it... Thank you for sharing... i hope to one day, be able to visit Germany (a place i've longed to visit) and thank you, in person... :-)

Like the lambo murc, the more I see one the more I like it. The cockpit looks almost to technical more like you are about to step into a jet. You can see the technology seeping out of the engine when you look at it. It's a truly amazing machine whether you like the design or not. i'll take 2.

I have some pics care of a colleague of mine Rich Ju:

Since everyone seems mixed on the exterior, I thought it'd be an idea to show of the int and heart and soul of the car so to speak...ENJOY!

I know that here in Chicago we are supposed to have a Red one and a Black one arriving in February/March. Same story as Dallas... more demand than supply.

Can't wait to see that black one!! It should look really MEAN!

Just got back from SEMA and took plenty of high qual. pics of the ENZO and had the specs of the car. Seeing the car in person and looking at the way the car is built changes the way you look at the car, this car looks ready for the track. After seeing the engine bay and interior, I totally forget how it looks on the outside and just think about how fun this car would be to drive. The design of this car is race spec if you can see this car in person, I felt it was a special moment to actually see one close up. I saw a few fixed up 360's that was done up nicely but out of all the cars of SEMA I would take the ENZO and the Brabus S600 priced at 275k, the car was just the ultimate luxury ride-period! nothing in the world nicer that I have ever seen to this very day. Over 15miles of walking it was very exhausting but I accomplished what I was after..

Someone at our FCA get together in Dallas tonight said that 12 people just in the Dallas area wanted an Enzo, but only 2 were allocated to Dallas.

Thank you MR.Klotz and MS.MeiBner.very informative.if i remember correctly when the 550 Maranello came out M. Shumacher asked for a free one and DiMontezemolo was not too thrilled about that, something about someone making all this money you can pay for it, so he gave him a preproduction test hack.apparently Shumacher was not too happy about that.later he got a new custom ordered car i think it was red/gray racing seats with a leather covered rollbar.i don't know if he bought it or it was a gift. anyone have more info on this?

Andrew, a good friend just got back from a factory visit personally hosted by FNA's head of sales. My friend saw the Enzo line, and actually sat in one that was just completed. They told him that the completed units are being held while FSpA decides who gets them...Seems there are many more deposits than cars, so a little Italian 5-fingered politics will be in order, I'm afraid...

(via translator, Ms. Julia Meiner)

Hallo Martin -- Unfortunately the ENZO was to be loaded back into His comfortable "carton" immediately following SEMA show and shipped back to Brazil. But Herr Klotz say YES you really need to see Him in person to appreciate His beautiful lines and look!

Hallo other Ferrari people -- We do indeed plan on renting our ENZO. However, like our 288GTO and F50, we only rent Him to prior returning customers, who we already know, who driving capabilities already proven, and whom we can trust to bring Him back undamaged and in the same one piece. We presently do not have this requirement for our F40, although we have regretted it a couple of times.

The rental fee for the ENZO has not yet been determined, as it will be highly dependent on ratable insurance. Fortunately (Herr Klotz) have a family member who owns the insurance company, but even with this being the case, insuring Him for rental purposes is not easy task. Current speculation suggests fee of approximately the $3,000 to $3,500 per day range. Insurance risk underwriters do not hear of any other rental firm in world planning for offer die ENZO fur rental purposes, so Herr Klotz in process of working directly with them to schreib detailed risk model. Be certain, however, we will get it done in time for August, as we have done same with our 288GTO and F50!

Herr Klotz say it so nice of many of you to express your gratitude for the information we have shared, and of course we hope to see you in Germany sometime!

BretM, you could be right about that.
Never thought of it that way, that it just was a publicity stunt.
And it was the ESA with the paint (Rosso Corsa), I just found the link: http://www.esa.int/export/esaCP/ESAMJQPV16D_index_0.html
Well thanks for the info anyway

Bart it was the European Space Agency (something like that) that was all about the Ferrari paint. Not sure if ink or paint, but it seemed to be the paint they were talking about. Kind of ridiculous really that they need to incorporate Ferrari in their space program.

Neil, I thought that all Enzo's were already spoken for. And there will still be like a 1000 people who would want to buy one, and can afford it at the same time. At least I would want one if I had the money.

I can't believe that MS and RB are paying for these cars as well. But then again they might be paying for it, in the way that their paycheck will be a bit lower at the end of the month they receive their Enzo ;)

I love way the doors are openend, never thought that Ferrari would choose for that concept.

About the looks I think that it's great that they just went a different way then the other F-cars. That's what make's it so special, IMO.

About that ink, a few months ago it was all over the new that NASA was going to take some of the Ferrari paint with them to Mars to see if it holds out orso.
Do you might know if that was the ink or the real paint ?

To bad you receive the car in August, because if it was only two months earlier, you might wanted to meet some Ferrarista on the European F-chat meeting. And showing us the Enzo up close :-)

As for me, I love to read up on this sort of details so I don't mind the lenght of your post. I would love to read more of these details about the Enzo or any other Ferrari for that matter.

tom d, i think you might find that particular one to only be a clay model.....
schumi and brawn are probably paying for it on one of those special italian schemes.....in a few years time on an interest free loan....blahblah and if you win the 6th championship then they are free.....

Berthold, great write up. Do you intend renting yours?????????

I still think the car is very lacking in the 'looks' stakes but supply and demand rules and 'the kings new clothes' philosophy will ensure its place in history folklore.

Interesting to see the door opening design, didn't realise they would be non conventional

I guess even the x5 pre prod cars will be sold eventually.

Schumi and Brawn paying for theirs, yeh right, and we were all born yesterday...who the Fcar do they think they are kiddin?

Ladies and Gentlemen:

IN the last month I have learned quite a bit about the new ENZO. I thought this FerrariChat group would, more than most, enjoy hearing some of these very interesting and exciting details

As most of you probably already know, the color breakdown of the 399 ENZOs being produced will be 80% red, 15% yellow, 5% black. Initially Ferrari had some problems getting the black paint to sit properly.

Last week at the American SEMA Show, I had the opportunity to visit with the Enzo Meister (i.e. chief mechanic for the ENZO production line in Italy). His presence at the show was requested by Maranello because the Bridgestone Tire exhibit featured an example of the ENZO. They wanted to have someone who knows the car available to show attendees to answer various questions. Unfortunately, his name escapes me at this moment, and I left his business card in another office, but suffice it to say, this man knows the ENZO.

He stated that there will be TWO additional ENZOs build that do not fall under the aforementioned paint scheme. These two cars will not be painted. Rather, they will be inked. Yes, the Scuderia Ferrari F1 car is not painted. As a means of saving weight, the surfaces are covered in red ink. The ink used has more orange color to it, and thus you may have noticed that the Ferrari F1 cars are a bit more orange-red than the standard Ferrari red paint.

Nonetheless, the two red ink ENZOS will be build for none other than Messrs Schumacher and Brawn. When asked if these fellows will be given the cars as sort of tropies for the fine job the F1 team has done, he rather sternly replied that they have to pay for their cars, just like the rest of us. Perhaps this is just the company line, but it was interesting to hear this reply.

He also seemed a bit concerned because the red ink does not pass the test of time nearly as well as does the red paint. He said it tends to change color over time, and does not weather very well.

The red car on exhibition at SEMA was #5 of 5 pre-production ENZOs that were manufactured, the next car to follow this car being standard production #1. This particular car was boxed and flown specially into LAX, then trucked to Las Vegas, for the occasion of SEMA. It was my understanding that this car is owned by Ferrari Spa, and shall always remain the property of Ferrari Spa. But I did not learn what the car is doing in Brazil. It had approximately 500km on the odometer, and the date code on the inside rear passenger side quarter panel stated May 2002.

As I am sure you also know, the Bridgestone SCUDERIA tires on the ENZO were made especially for this car. I was told to expect approximately 5,000 kilometers life span from the rear tires, assuming the car is driven as an ENZO should be driven. Replacement cost for the rear pair is approximately 1,700 Euro (US$1,700).

Official production of the ENZO began in June. They produced during the entire month of July, and did not work in August. They produced during the entire months of September and October. They presently built at a rate of approximately 1.5 ENZOs per week. It is my understanding that so far they have built around 24 ENZOs. He also said he expects output to increase eventually from 1.5 units per week to over 2 units per week, since some of the earlier ENZOs required additional build time, due to the design and tooling being new, and there still being some learning occurring. At this rate, it is projected that we shall be taking delivery of our new ENZO in around August 2003. Indeed we are very excited.

This is nearly the extent of interesting information I have learned. Perhaps I should apologize for the quality of this writing my English is not so good, and I have had this translated by one of our office associates. And I also apologize to Mr. Rob Lay it seems every time I make a posting, it is way too long. However, it is my sincere thought that the FerrariChat people would enjoy learning all the information conveyed herein.

Lastly, I should add that www.EuropeanFerrariRental.com does plan on involvement with www.FerrariChat.com in the Spring, when our rental season resumes. We shut down during the winter months due to inclement weather across most of Europe.

For your enjoyment, I will include some ENZO photos taken during a trip to Maranello in September.

All the best, FerrariChatters, for a happy and healthy holiday season.

Mit freundlichen Gruessen,

Berthold Klotz
Scuderia von Ruschenberg
