Any official recall items by the manufacturer under federal law must be honored warranty or no warranty. This would apply to any car; Euro, Asian or Martian.

As to warranty work, Ferrari as of Oct. 2000 has taken the POSITION they will not pay for Euro cars.

Well, if anyone knows of anyone over there who would want it, please let me know.

As an alternative, you can purchase a three year, unlimited mile aftermarket warranty for about $6,000. This requires an inspection before the company will write the warranty.

You still get a Ferrari warranty on a euro spec car, just not an FNA one. So, if the car breaks, you have to ship it back to europe to have the warranty work done. Not very economic for a minor repair, but mayby worth while for a $35k engine rebuild.

Brian-

The US market is paying about $180,000 for your car if it were in excellent condition and on the ground here with appropriate paperwork ready to be registered. The value would be about $190,000 if it had 500 miles or less.

There are several costs that you're not factoring into your estimates, including: currency conversion, transportation, insurance, duties and fees, customs broker fee, and the cost of your money during the 3 month process.

These are just the hard costs. The number of mistakes you can make along the way can rapidly add to both your costs and frustration.

I strongly caution anyone thinking of undertaking an import without professional guidance.

That is the rumor. The 420 is the replacement for the 360.

What is this "420" that I keep hearing about? Is it the 360's replacement? An update on the existing 360? And, when is it expected? I DID hear about the "460" replacement for the 456.

Brian,
the conversion ranges from $20K to $25K. Shipping to the US from $1000K sea to $ 5,000K air. Price to sell this baby here in the US probably around $ 180,000 on the low side.

The million dollar question right now is, wher eis the market going to go with the 420 knocking on the door. You are taking a risk but the market is still there.

Get in touch with me if you want to do something with the car here in the US. I have a dealer license and would be happy to assist you.

Here's what I've got: 2001 360 Spider F1, 5100km, red/black, Xenon, CD, red calipers. It is a European-spec car that I have here in Germany. If anyone is interested, I want $150,000 for it. I think this could be a very good deal for an American who wants one of these cars.

In that case I guess my question is what can you sell it for in europe. That would be what an american willing to foot the bill for conversion would be willing to pay

I would think $15-20K is a pretty good discount considering the miles. If I got $150K for my 01 Spider F1, someone would have to pay about $15-20K for the conversion and end up with a $165-170K car vs. a $180-190K car.

I have seen delivery miles (less than 600) 01 euro spiders for sale for about 180- 190 with epa and dot. so that may help. The car you are talking about would definetly be considered used so it would call for a good discount from the new ones

If I were to export it, I would want to sell it cheap enough so that whoever I sell it to would be OK with paying for their own conversion. So, really, the car would have to be worth about $165K in the USA for me to get my $150K for it. Is it worth it? Anyone know?

If I could get $150K for it in the USA, it might be worthwhile for me to export it. Anyone know if it's worth that much over there?

I've got a (European-spec) 2001 360 Spider F1 with 5100km - about 3300 miles - here in Germany. Anyone know what this car would be worth in the USA right now?
