1. get into debt, debt, and more debt, and join the Ferrari debt club or is that Ferrari Death club

2. keep the Le Mans (seriously)

3. get the Ferrari and Porsche
sell the house or mortgage it to the absolute max....

4. plead temporary insanity or mid-life crisis to the wife when you bring the the F home

I don't know about just getting it. The last episode of "The mind of a married man" There was a guy named Doug that bought a new Corvette without telling his wife. Though he did tell her something like, if she didn't like it she was a c*nt. Needless to say, she went to the dealer and had them exchange it for a Saturn when he went to work. On returning, Him, speechless, she said "Now you know what a c*nt" does. Hilarious! Anyhow, I bought my f-car without my wife knowing and I got the cold shoulder for a week. Even now she calls it a "Fiero"!!! She does like Porshe's though. Funny creatures women are....

Patrick, does she know what a 308 GTSI looks like? Maybe I'm weird but I don't like Porsches. We have had two a 928 and a 356 - didn't care for either of them. I am shocked that many women seem to prefer the 911 or other Pcars over the beauty of the Ferrari.

Guys,

Stay away from the line " other women will...."

Focus on them. Make them think they made the decission. Say something like, " you know honey, The p-car is a good car. I guess it really does not matter that they do not hold value like the Ferrari's. I goues it is better to live for the now then get a car that we could use to offset our retirment income. Who wants to stand out in a Ferrari anyway. Now I don't have to worry about hot guys looking at YOU!"

Put the spin on to them....

Martin is clearly a genius. Tell her the 911 will attract other women and the f-car won't. With such an understanding spouse you don't care about attracting women, you just want the F-car as a testosterone outlet. Ingenious! Sure, it is a big fat lie, but I definitely like the approach.

Of course if she doesn't buy that then tell her you'll miss her and that your new wife/girlfriend probably won't like the Ferrari either, but you doubt if she'll be foolish enough to complain.

Gee, I hope my wife doesn't read this.....

I have to agree with Ed. Keep it if possible. It seems to me that I have regretted selling almost every car that I've owned.

Of couse, that may be a little unrealistic, since you gotta have the garage space for all of this stuff...

The problem I have is how do I tell her not to buy a $50 pair of shoes because we are on a budget, yet I want to buy a $50k toy? Jeez I need to make more money!

My wife doesn't care for my Ferrari, and her dream car is a 'Porsh'. I told her she can't have one until she learns to pronounce it.

Hmmmm..... Maybe she's right. Why is it we like these things again?"

Because its REAL noisy--but its the noises to die for.
Its smelly, but the smell of castrol brings a warm feeling of being at the races waiting for the action to begin.
It rides terribly, but only at legal speeds, get it up into the speed territory it was designed for, and it rides rather well.
Its is impossible to get in and out, but you only need to get in once and out once, while inbetween, you get to spend hour after hour in man machine intercourse.

Why is it that we like these things; indeed!

Let me tell you something about women (like I know anything). Women tend not to like Ferrari's for 2 reasons:

1. The F-Car will take your attention away from them.

2. They will feel insecure when other women check you out at the wheel of your F-car.

It is not that they do not like the car, rather women (strange desirable creatures that they are) just can't get over points 1 & 2 listed above. Good luck...I am sure the F-car will be worth the stress.

Tell her a 911 is a car that attracks women like herself. A Ferrari is a typical guy car and no woman (Nika please forgive me) looks at a Ferrari.

Actually that is really true :-(

Purchase both. You get your 308 and she gets her 911.

Generalizations here, and generalizations are dangerous. But here I go.....

Girls like Porsches, hate Ferraris. Wierd, but true.

I *convinced* my other half that a Ferrari would be "Really Neat". After getting it she says "It must be a guy thing. It's REAL noisy, smelly, rides terribly, is hard to drive (she doesn't like the manual steering, hard clutch, clunky gearshift, etc.), and impossible to get in and out of."

Hmmmm..... Maybe she's right. Why is it we like these things again?

All my girlfriends like that 911, it must be a chick thing! I don't know why...but they just like those smooth lines of the pregnant turtle shape?

If I were you... I'd get a 308GT4 and buy her a VW bug. You'll both be happy.

Just remember:

It's easier to get forgiveness than permission. Just have the Fcar show up in the driveway one morning and wait for the fireworks to end. It might take a while :-)

More seriously, couldn't you pick up a GT4 and an early 911 for close to the cost of a 308QV?

Convince her how the Ferrari is more reliable than the Lemans. Joke of course, but might work.

While talking with my wife about selling our 66 lemans to buy my first F-car she has brought up that she wants a 911. How do I convince her that a F-car (308GT4 or 308 GTSi) would be ..well more what I'm looking for? Any suggestions?
