Wayne, Yu Da Man ;-) !!!!! I have some pics of his car from way back when (mid to late 70's)being worked on. I had no idea he had a web site and seems to be a Ferrari Fanatic, from the speed reading I just did. I'll em him and send him the pics of his 275, that should freak him out a little bit...LOL. |

Here's a question for you whose 275 did the Manson Family drive/crash? Hint they used his RR to prowl through dumpsters and tote disgardared food back to the Spann Ranch... |

Jay, the S/N is 9729. The car ended up with actress Sharon Tate and was in Otto Zipper's shop in Santa Monica when she was murdered. Al Verbin bought the car from her estate through Zipper and owned it until the late eighties. I'm not sure to whom he sold the car or where it is presently. Anyone else? Wayne |

Speaking of 275 GTB's... In the mid 1980's, I witnessed the sale of a BEAUTIFUL red 275 GTB 4 cam at Barrett-Jackson in Scottsdale. The car I have in mind was originally owned by Roman Polanski. I don't know the serial number. Does anyone know the whereabouts of this car, or what happened to it following the mid 1980's?? Many thanks.... |

Hi WM, No it wasn't an anomoly. The factory produced most of the 275 2 cam cars with 3 carbs and a limited number of original 6C's. (6-10? something like that ) but offered the 6 carb Setup as an option or bolt-on hop-up kit. At the same time they were producing the 275GTB/4's which all had the 6 pack, so maybe they didn't want the 2 models competeing for sales with the same customers? If someone knows differently please share, I'm a carreer mechanic not a historian...lol. |

Guys: was that an anomoly? I mean, an alloy bodied car connotes lightness, for performance, yet 3 carbs? I guess i assumed that the alloy cars would always be set up from the factory as higher performance machines. |

Hi Wayne, You are correct sir. The car started life as a 3 carb. The guy who bought the car (in Atlanta I believe early to mid 70's) managed to purchase an entire factory update kit to 6 carb specs. He was restoring the car himself at home and as happens sometimes, became overwhelmed by the the task. He spent about 10-12 yrs tinkering with the restoration before deciding the project was going a little slower (and was a whole lot bigger) than he wished. That's when I became involved to move the game along. Shortly after I began the reconstruction process, Lewis sold the car (traded for a 412 & cash I believe) to one of my other clients that had the money to transform 08045 into one of the nicest examples one could possibly imagine. Even though I did the work, I was still in awe whenever the car came in for service at how brand new and functional in every way it was. If you're ever in the market for an Alloy Bodied Long Nosed 275, I highly reccomend you take a look at 08045 if it becomes availible. Regards, JRV |

J.R., what an amazing transformation! I have this car as being originally a 3-carb car, internal block # 928/64. Do you know if the car was later modified to the 6-carb setup? Either way, it's a beautiful machine. I wish I lived in Texas. I'd love to hang around and help out in your shop for free on my days off just for the experience. Pity! Wayne |

Wayne, Here's a pic of the 275GTB in the beggining. I guess you could call it a basket case...lol. The vin # is 08045. The car was recently sold and went to Santa Barbara I'm told. Then the x-owner bought a very nice 550 Marenello. This same guy also has a Daytona and a 250SWB that he vintage races on the left coast. |

JRV That is a great looking car!! But you should do a search on the web for oil filter tests, frams may have been good in the past but they rate the bottom now. please dont take that wrong, just wanted to pass that info. Mojo |

Hi Wayne, I'll have to agree with you, A REAL FERRARI. Sheer Elegance. I'll look the vin up, I'm not the guy that wants to remember things like that. And I'm truly sorry but I don't name names. I think my clients prefer it that way, Just a trust issue with me. Here's a pic not on my site. In fact very few pics of the many old cars are there, because the market wants to see the latest & greatest and here the newest buzz words. Times change.

JR, I recognize both pics from your site. Now that's what I call a Ferrari! If you don't mind sharing, what is the s/n (can't make it out from the engine pic) and who is the current owner? Thanks, Wayne |

Matt, Ferrari used Fram filters exclusively for almost 30 years, why , did they know something from racing their asses off all those years ? Burst Strenght! and filtering ability. Ferrari only changed to UFI oil filters after Mr. Ferrari died and Fiat took over, Fiat owns >> UFI. |

JRV, I noticed you are using Fram filters in your cars. Have you tried Baldwins or UFI's/ M Fellow f-chatters, please forgive for reopening the oil filter debate. I just what a working guys opinion. |
