As far as Ferrari Market Letter goes, there isn't a bigger waste of time out there. Prices are so stupid. Just a bunch of brokers and dealers jerking each other off, asking insane numbers. This goes for all models, not specific to F50's. As a sidenote, can you imagine trying to sell a car for $700,000, and mentioning that it has a $4,000 exhaust system? Like that is the factor that will sway someone who will buy that model?
Gotta love it.

The U.S. F50 market prices are out of whack. I just did a google search and came up with 4 F50's for sale in Denmark for around $500,000.
With any legwork, I'm sure they can be had for less. Also, it would be foolish to think that there would be ANY issues regarding that it is not a U.S. car. Importing, EPA, DOT...done.
I like Kevin, but clearly he is "talking his book". Understandable, but hardly a persuasive arguement.

I doubt the factory would have painted the insides of the lights red on a car they painted silver. It was probably originally red. WWOC painted one black. They sent the lights back to Ferrari to be painted black as they were a sealed unit.

I agree with Rumordude that the Enzo will only pump up the prices of the F50. You have only about 55 U.S. F50s in the country and none of them seem to be for sale. FNA will probably import about 100 Enzo's and for every car sold the dealers submit three applicants. When the first Enzo's pop up on the open market they'll be selling somewhere north of $1M. This scenario will only support higher F50 values. MHO

Paul Frames car was also on i believe motor trend t.v. as well as the mag itself, they delivered it and a red one at i think a Texas track.the red one was inmediatly put in a trailer and locked up while M.R. Frame took his out on track and gave everybody there rides that day,he also brought a 288GTO and i think an F40 as well as a 355 challenge if memory serves plus there was also a 275GTB.man i wish i would've been there that day!!

Of the recent specialty Ferraris (288, F40/50, Enzo), only the F40 can currently be had for under its original MSRP. Reason for this is likely the result of greater production volume. U.S. F40's are priced higher due, at least in part, to the fact that only 200 or so of the 1300 cars were delivered stateside. Would suspect the F40 will always be the relative "bargain" of this group for this reason. That said, priced equally, the F40'd still be my pick of the group.

As far as collectability is concerned, doubt any of them will achieve crazy "status" of the earlier cars (250 GT0/LM/SWB/TR, etc.) which are largely race/surviviors and far fewer in number. Further, unlike the old school cars, a fair number of the current "rare ones" were purchased at the onset as collector cars and so there will probably always be a zero mile time capsule car or two available at any given time.

i think an f50 at 600k is underpriced by about 150k, not overpriced! the f40 is a crazy man car, the f50 will crush it around the turns and at least you dont have to be embarassed: "you paid how much and you pull a string to get out?" besides, i don't like turbos.

i think the enzo will pump the f50 prices. besides there haven't been very many f50s on the market throughout the summer, and clearly there are a few people looking to buy. :-)

the f50 is undoubtedly more pretty than the enzo is, although i might have to say the f40 is rather attractive as well.

I would think pricing will start to come down on these, especially with the enzo coming. What do you guys think? Do you guys think f40s have more of a following than F-50s? ie will a signifcant premium still exist for f-50s 5 years from now?

There's an F50 sitting in the window of Ferrari Beverly Hills at the moment....
310 275 4400....Given the uptight nature of US dealers carrying euro Ferraris, I would assume it is a US model.
