The only resentment I got was from guy's who could not understand why I owned a Ferrari. They would come to collect me with their Toyota and then see my GTB in the garage! |

I have not experienced much negative feedback, mostly thumbs up or "hey nice car" comments. Don't worry about the few exeptions, drive it, enjoy it for yourself and remember that the ones that resent it shouldn't matter to you anyway. |

I always make it a point to be as nice to people as possable when they are looking at my TR. If they ask how much, I simply say a few dollars with a nice smile adn they get it. I also always if pulled up at a light with a nice car next to me ( even the 20yr old in a Mustang ) I always comment that he has a nice car before he can say a word. If I am not in a rush, I am also always glad to show it to most people, including the NJ Sate Trooper the other day in the rest stop on the TPK. He was very cool. I think the people who never realy worked for a living even once as a kid and can afford these cars give many of us a bad name. |

Wm H. The AM vantage was a '79 which I sold in'88.Took it to Europe on the QE2 and drove it throughout Europe.Had N.Y.plates DUBL-07 and the locals went ape."Msr.Bond, Msr Bond" etc. My best time at Lime rock in '82 was 1.11. So you are doing great at the 1.05 neighborhood.Moved to Fl in '92 and drove the 355 B at sebring. Now living in Ferrari retirement in Portland,Or Martin |

Martin W, where u up at Lime Rock for the AMOC meet ? I had my black 512TR up there. saw a 1:05:20 for my fast lap. Want to chop that down to at least a 1:03:90 aug 3-5 for the Ferrari club meet. If I get slicks I know I can get 1 min flat out of my big bird |

Yesterday at Portland Int. Raceway there was a car corral for just about every marque one could think of (hisoric car races on the track) About 10 Ferraris 308's one f40,2 360's 2 dino's etc.We certainly got our share of questions and ooh's and ahh's. But the most fun was what was supposed to be a parade lap turned out to be a pretty "hot" lap.Whether intentional or not,the group of Ferraris were given a nice interval in the pits before given the green flag so with my wife mute and holding on I had my first lap with the 360.If only I was good enough to come even close to the limits of the car! I've had my 355B at Sebring and my AM Vantage at Lime Rock but this was more exciting.Probably because I didn't expect it or maybe because I'm getting long in tooth! |

Mark, don't forget the umbrella in the gun rack, and the 'light' bar, can't forget the 'light' bar (for you city folk, that is the doodad in the pickup bed that looks like a rollbar, just doesn't function as one, so they can't call it a rollbar). |

I have had my 308 GTSi just over a month now, with 2 weeks of that in the shop for routine stuff; 2nd day I had it someone threw trash into it; 5th day got a key job on passenger's door (easily rubbed out) 3 days ago someone tried to pry off my hood emblem, emblem is shot and hood bent where pry bar was used. I am finding Ferrari ownership here in Hicksville (Colorado Springs) to be more effort than its worth - time to get a Ford F150 pickup like the rest of the Goobers out here ....and a cowboy hat and some chew.... |

Kids and guys over 40 seem to be the most appreciative of a Ferrari's beauty. Once 2 guys in a pickup truck threw a handful of pennies at me as they drove past - fortunately all landed on me and the seats and none hit the paint. There will always be one idiot out there among the fans. |

I don't know Bret, the 10-15 year-olds in my neighborhood are more excited about my mountain bikes than my Ferrari! (maybe because my GT4 doesn't look like a Ferrari J) |

Young kids seem to be the coolest about the Ferrari, like 10 to 15 year olds. There are a lot of cool people, but I really hate Porsche owners. Almost all of them (all except one older guy) were dicks to me. This one guy pulled up next to me and was like "Oh, taking daddy's car out tonight?" My friend (this big Italian kid) was like "Oh, taking daddy's dildo in the ass tonight." That shut him up. |

They are out there. I met some but in fairness the great majorty are just fun people. Blows my mind when you are at a FCA meet and you run into a snob. How the hell do they know who you are any what you have that they could look down on you! Just because I liek to wear Jeans and T's makes me poor? If it would be that easy I would get checks from the IRS instead of sending them, right? |

I have yet to meet any ferrari owners who are snobs. But then, i've only met 2. People who think they are better than everyone else bc they are rich and can afford a ferrari shouldnt be drving them. People who apriciate the heritage, personality, and performance of them should. |

Besides looking at it (a red sculpture) and driving it what I love most is the 10-15 yr old kids who surround it (when its parked!) ooooowwww and aaaahhhh asking questions.Yesterday A boy ran home for his camera and asked if he could sit in the drivers seat and would I take a picture. Sure did and only charged him $5. |

These guys and girls with the highly modified NOS powered Jap cars spend far more than most Ferrari owners do to achieve what is standard & expected from a Ferrari. They may have the upper hand at the 1/4 mile track, but are way behind in style and sophistication. |

When people see a cool car, I'm sure u all know they ask about performance & price. SOme people get a bit bent when I inform them that the New Car price of my 512TR was $200k, probably more than their home. So usually I just say they can b bought for $80k & up these days. Seems to go down a bit better. |

At the end of the day, I think it is how your car makes you feel. Sure theres gonna be some resentful and jealous jerks but we can't help them with their predisposition. As long as we're not jerks either should go a long way.... |

There will always be a faster car no matter what you drive but I still think for a 17 year old car my 308 has some balls up high. Add that sweet sound of 8 cylinders screaming at 7000 rpms and you can't beat it in my book. |

Gentlemen, It's what I said before. You will always be able to find a car that is faster than your Ferrari. But when you drive your Ferrari you know you're not driving a Toyota, you're driving a exotic, mysterious car to most people , You're driving a Ferrari. They may be faster but they can't beat you on class or having a car as unique as a Ferrari. In my opinion that says it all. |

Interesting, because just yesterday coming home on a main freeway here in Ca, I had a 70's van pull up next to me. Honk his horn and the passenger "MOON" me, pointing to his butt meaning "Kiss my A**"!!!!! But it was in fun! |

I never get any resentment when I take out the Ferrari for a ride. The only resentment I get is from my next neighbor. He b*tches and complains of the fumes ( my car has no cats) but I just ignore him. If anything everyone wants to check it out and look under the hood. I should just start charging the people who ask me to take them for a ride, I'd have a couple more Ferraris. Also in the movie it was a Spyder which is heavier and slower. |

Well, I think I can shed some light on this subject, since I own both a Ferrari (360M F1) and a Toyota Supra (745 dyno hp). I bought the Supra brand new in 1993 when they first came out, and modified it little by little throughout the years. I must say, the car is so easy to make fast that it's not even funny. NOTHING on the road can match it for its speed, including any street Ferrari, RUF Porsches, Lingenfelter Vettes, Venom Vipers, etc etc. In accelleration, it is unmatched. I bought the Ferrari last August 2000, and have put in the Tubi exhaust and filters. Even though it is much slower than the Supra, the sound and feel are just out of sight. The stability at high speed is also quite extraordinary. But the accelleration of the Supra is like being in a rollercoaster ride. Given this, I just can't seem to stop driving the 360, whereas the Supra has been parked for some time now. I get positive and negative remarks on both, and I love thrashing every car that tries to race the Supra. The 360 I have to be more careful with, as I have had people try to cut me off or brake hard to try to make me crash. The bottom line is that they are two very different cars and right now I couldn't imagine being withough either one. |

Magoo, We may be bringing on the tailgaters because they don't recognize the cavallino. They need to get on the bumper in order to read the "Ferrari" on the top of the rear panel. Maybe we need to get the plate holders with Ferrari on them? |

Last time I was at the glen there was my 512TR & a few 355 & 360 Challenge cars along with like 12 Mazda RX7 turbos. Thats the japanese car I would get cus it can make almost as much power as the SUpra, looks better, & handles better cus its lighter. I have my Mitsu 3000GTVR4 400hp twin turbo AWD car that I will take to the track & use as my rain car. Regarding the 700hp Supra, I think a 700hp+ F40LM will put the Toyota back in its place in a hurry |

I gotta agree with Martin on this one. Ever seen a modified Supra? Its quite easy to get those things to 450 hp, and I've seen several on a track before with well over 700 hp. If you need proof, please email me and I'll throw you a few links for more information on this subject matter. Yes, its just a Supra, No, its not a Ferrari. Its an entirely different car and for the most part for different situations, purposes and even more importantly, personalities. That's my take. The way they portrayed it as the 355 not being left in the dust was quite tasteful for Ferrari owners. The 355 is stock for all we know, which reminds me of the Lotus Elise (race prepped) vs. Vette (stock) on a track (Nurbergring perhaps?), all in car cam on the Lotus - the Lotus was topped out most of the time and caught up to the vette on a few corners but overall, it says a lot for the vette, being stock, and staying ahead of the elise on the track. |

To read what you guys have written reminds me of the many times when I look in the rear view mirror and some jerk is tailgateing me just to see what kind car it is. He follows me for miles then at a stop light when he pulls up beside you he never looks to acknowledge or admire the car. These are the wanabes. Then there is the guy who gives you a thumbs up with a smile on his face, at least I think it was his thumb. |

Most people enjoy exotics but a few knucleheads have to exist, Ive had a few nasty looks but no nasty comments. At Pocono 3 cars including a gorgeous metallic red Countach were KEYED while their owners slept, what kind of AHOLE would do that to a work of art ? |

I found that scene great! A beefed up Supra, which has plenty of HP as a stock car, but then has Nitros and so on, had a pretty hard time to get rid of the Ferrari. That to me speaks volumes. Of course the Ferrari stands no chance there. It is a match of un-equal. In other discussions we had the Lambo crash. Just out of the movie...all over, getting into oncoming traffic to "win" that race. Risking other peoples lives. Negative resentment? No, I never had any so far. There is people that want to race you. DON'T. Your clutch is more expensive than their cars! I get a lot of positive feedback. Lots of people just want to talk and others just smile and enjoy. That to me is a great thing. Here in the US people can enjoy these cars without dumb comments. The Ferrari driver in F&F was clearly a character a**hole. That fit the character they wanted to portray. That is okay. I have not encountered these Ferrari owners yet. Although I am sure they are out there as well. As with everything there is good and bad people. In general the Ferrari driver is a passionate Ferrari fan an enjoys to share his joy. Just look at this website! |

I just finished watching the Fast and the Furious. There's a scene where a snobbish guy in a 355 Spyder comments to the hero not to ask the price of his car because he could never afford it. He then loses badly to a Supra. I found that scene particularly interesting because I may close on a 355 Spyder soon! There's a lot of lingering resentment among the "have nots" (much of it justified), and I think the average guy quietly cheers when the rich guy loses. It was a popular moment in the theater tonight. I'm wondering if anyone here has encountered resentment or jealousy because of his Ferrari. I'm not new to it, having just sold my Viper and NSX. But a topless Ferrari is several notches flashier than those cars, and I'm worried about negative attention. |
