Hi again Omar, Not to take any wind out of your sails but make sure you know what you're getting into here. Even though it has low mileage this 328 is a 14y/o car and issues *will* arise. The 30k service runs about $5-7k (dealer) and if done elsewhere be certain they follow the same protocol (email me if you need specifics: [email protected])I'm a bit surprised the dealer is willing to take this much off price. Your NSX is a wonderful car but I bet it always rock-solid reliable & runs perfectly. Learn *everything* you possibly can about the cars, inspect/drive a few, then go over this car. See if you can get the history (suspect if asking is $50k owner probably netted $45k - or less, given they're willing to do 30k service - from sale which is a little low for an 88 1/2 with this mileage) & speak with previous owners. And as others have mentioned: absolutely without question have the car thoroughly inspected ($500 with compression check)if you intend to purchase. The 88 1/2 I just puchased was represented as a "perfect car" - and cosmetically is - but when I actually started inpsecting it had starter solenoid intermittant misfunction (potentially embarrassing fault!), "slow down" ECU faulty, A/C needed recharged, gas struts for rear bonnet worn out...none of which was terminal but would have added about $1500-2000 immediately...and once discovered, repairs were factored into price. Not that any of this should dissuade you (it didn't me!) just don't want to see you disappointed later on or poorer that you need to be. Let me know if I can be of further help,
Carl

In fact it is for sale by Bavarian Motors. It is a 88 328GTS with ~16800 miles red on tan. they want 49,900; which is great as I can dump my 97 NSX-t (6spd red on black w/ ~30,300 miles) for it if possible. That all said, how can I, do I have it inspected by a ferrari tech? I heard from Eric (the salesman I talked to) that there is an independant ferrari specialist in Harrisburg. Other things I learned from him: 15000 service complete, 30000 due soon; Orginal clutch. (claimed) Straight body local car If I am to purchase the car, 30k serivice would be completed by the independant dealer paid for by Bavarian Motor As for why I would like someone with me, I am not the best at finding faults w/ cars unless they are major; so it would be best to have someone a little more knowlegdable w/ me. Thnks all for your help! |

I live an hour south of Harrisburg. Chuck348ts lives in Harrisburg. Perhaps he can help you. Either way, as Mr. Barton says, you should have an F dealer check it out as well. Unless Chuck has found out something new, there are no independent repair facility in central PA that are familiar with these cars. The only one I can half-suggest is Bavarian Motors, but they are not too crazy about Ferrari. Good technicians, though. Algar Ferrari is in Philly, and Ferrari of Washington is in DC. Those are the closest, I'm afraid. Where is this particular car located? |

Omar, I didn't know much about them either when I was looking @ them. all I did was have my car inspected by a reputable Ferrari dealer before I bought it. It only costs about $500 and will save you a lot of headaches down the road. You will probably want to do it anyway even if you have someone go look @ it with you. Good luck! |

There is a 328 GTS for sale in Harrisburg that I want to go and see. If its a good car, I want to trade my NSX and get it. Any f-car owner nearby that can come with me to the dealer next saturday (23rd) and see the car? I don't know much about f-cars and a knowlegdable person who does would help me not make a big mistake. thanks Omar A bit of history on me; I have loved f-cars since before I could drive. Ferrari is my favorite manufactuer (BMW is my second). My favorite car is a TR, preferable a 512TR or 512M. I love 328s and 355s. Not so much a fan of 308s or 348s. 360 and 550 are out of my price range to say the least :p, though I like them as well. |
