Lung - you are correct. Not many of us have a 130 mph habit. I have not seen this speed in my TR. Jeff's astute comment, along with the lift observation, only illustrates that there is a purpose to Ferrari's madness. |

A very astute observation Jeff. |

I believe the spare tire is also for impact/crash protection, removing would weaken the front area |

I agree that if you are going at 130mph or 280kmh it may not make a difference. But realistically I have not done 280kmh. I am thinking more in line of city driving or when I need to parallel park the car. |

I agree with James. Personally above 130 I would take even more weight in the front - it does get kind of light "feeling" and the corrections are constant. The transition zone from super steady to more light in the front seems to be 120 - 130 for my car. |

Lung - how light would you like the steering to feel at 130 mph? In an earlier thread I offered some technical data, obtained from a former FNA technical engineer, that the TR front bonnet generates approximately 400 pounds of LIFT at 130 mph. This really reduces tire wear. You're right. Forty pounds will not make much of a difference - four hundred versus four hundred and forty, who's counting. The only noticable difference will be the climb rate. Jim S. |

hmmmm...I would imagine that 40lbs would be significant. Anyway, on top of the 40lbs, I was thinking of changing to the Speedline Monolite wheels (which SAC tells me is about 10lbs ligher/wheel compared to my 512M wheel). In total that would be about 60lbs or about 5 bowling balls. What do you guys think? That should lighten the steering rite? |

The TR spare weighs 44 lbs. with the knock-off hub, and 4 lbs less with out. I have a beautiful TR spare, and 3 other skinny spares, (2 19" and 1 20") that I do not need, for sale, if interested.

It doesn't weigh enough to make any difference. |

1. What is the weight of the space saver spare tire in the testa? 2. Would the steering wheel feel lighter if I removed it? I cannot test it now as the car is in the shop. |
