There has been speculation of his departure for some time now. I think he might feel the 'limitations' of Ferrari on him and as such, maybe extended his role to the entire Fiat empire gives him room for change.

Personally, I'm not wild about the over-commercialization he has in mind for Ferrari. The last thing I want to see is a Ferrari Store in my shopping mall.

doesn't mean that he leaves his place at ferrari, just means his paycheck got bigger.......
