Survey Response:
1. FCA-Pacific
2. Since April, 2001
3. Satisfaction-5
4. One event-a drive to a Sonoma Winery. Nice drive-well planned. No one welcomed me. Noticed it was clickish. Understandable when you have guys like me with a 16y.o. $30,000 car and guys with $200,000 360's and another group with 35 y.o. collectors items. Seems like there is a party crowd, a track crowd and a concours crowd.
5.It's fun to roar through a small town with 25 other Ferraris.

I've been in both clubs for 3 years. I am also in "a remote corner" and pay extra to FOC, which I think I'll drop -- it is more $$ than FCA, and I go to Indy F1 with FCA. As I live so far from anywhere, sense of belonging not really applicable, (extreme SW Minnesota not a hotbed of Ferrari activity). The monthly FCA newsletter seems more helpful than the FOC (which seems to be about the social activities in CA).

I can't remember if it was here, or on Monte's site that this was all discussed before. See if 'search' comes up with anything else.

I believe that any interested new Ferrari owner should join both for a couple of years and see which (s)he likes better.

As I said before:

1. both FOC and FCA both Florida Region!
2. FCA one year and plus, FOC since opening June this year.
3. FCA I'll give a 3 kind of strange and cocky.
FOC has been great. I think with the political fall out a few months ago at the FCA-Florida the good people have moved to the FOC and the bad had stayed behind at the FCA but too early to judge!
4. FCA strange. I am not sure what to tell you. Have been to only one event and that was only strange. I guess you have to go to several events to get to know people. On the FOC inaugural event I saw most people for the 2nd time and that was nice. Those were also the people that were cool on the frist event. People that talk to you and you have conversations with at the bar. As I said, the nice people left to the FOC.

I will stay a member of both clubs for this year. In May 2002 my renewal is up for the FCA. Lets see. In general I have to agree with William that there are issues between the two clubs. Instead of working together they fear that one takes the others members away. Politics. I have no time for that s**t. I want to enjoy myself.

Rob; you should get involved in the FOC that is opening up. You have the right vehicle to get more people involved. TX is so large that within the club you guys can do TX-regional events.

1. FCA Penn-Jersey Region
2. May 2001
3. 4
4. Got a pin with my name and region on it, otherwise impersonal
5. Don't know yet, but I was charged $120 rather $80 because I'm in a remote corner of a "region"; have yet to see what I'm getting for the extra $40

1 - FCA-South Central
2 - 1 year
3 - 5
4 - Very little acceptance
5- Anything with Ferrari is better than nothing, but would like them to do more. $80 a year is expensive.

5- I like getting the 10% discount on parts at the dealer.

If anyone is interested, there is a new FOC getting started in Austin, Texas. It will meet at the new Autostrada on Lamar (across from Central Market). For information on the club contact Ayman Allee at [email protected]. The dealership has some interesting cars include being the rep for Mangusta here is Austin; it will also be the only source of authorized ferrari service in town although I would think that it would be best for minor service until proven. Hope to see the club grow and become active. Kevin

FOC was mostly a CA club until recently. For some reason some members of the FOC & FCA resent each others clubs. I dont care about politics, I just want track time & I'll run with any1 who isnt a pain in the Btt

I'm just a member of the FCA right now and probably always will be, but I'm looking around to find something better or maybe start my own club. We had the FCA annual meet here this year and that was a great event, but there's hardly any other events all year. I've tried to do several things, but I get no support from the FCA. FCA seems be closely aligned with FNA, so it draws many of the new car owners. The other extreme of the club is all the old expensive classics. Nothing wrong with that, but I don't get much respect being in the middle.

I actually contacted someone about starting or increasing participation in the FOC here in Texas, but the president never got back to me.

Whether the FCA gets off their a$$ or FOC will help me out or I start a new club, within a year there will be something in Texas for people that are passionate about Ferrari, whether they own one or not. How hard is it to have F1 watching parties, road rallies, participate in car shows, and have some track days.

The #1 problem with the FCA here in Texas is the people in charge don't do anything. I don't doubt they are passionate about Ferrari, but they don't have the time to do things right. You need people that are both passionate and have the time to put in.

Here in Dallas we have the MAFFIA club, which is an Italian Car Club. They do a great job. Car shows, rallies, and get togethers.

Next year in Dallas I will organize...

1) F1 watching party for all the races close to our time zone.

2) Get together at the American Le Mans Series race at Texas Motor Speedway. There will be several Ferraris competing next year.

3) Participate in the MAFFIA and other car shows.

4) Have track events with either the Texas World Speedway, Porsche, or BMW clubs.

Now see how simple that is? But evidently that's too hard for some people.

must have an everyday face. although people tell me how ugly I am....:)

Never even been to Texas yet, except one late night into Dallas and left the next morning early. That is my Texas experience.

Also bought and sold some acres in TX.

I am a member of both since this month.

The former president of the FCA Florida has been ousted of the club with some political bulls**t and has turned around an opend the FOC Florida.

I personally like David Bobe a lot. He is a very nice guy. All of the new directors of the FOC Florida are great people.

On the Sebring Meet this year, my first FCA event I encountered a lot of snobby people. I can not understand why there would be snobs in a Ferrari club, as you need a certain amount of money to own one of these cars anyway. I am not saying that that should be a reason for snobism but that could be the only one and to be like that amoungst equals blows my mind.
There were more poeple that told me the same thing and it appears that this is more common in the FCA. The FOC has less members and there are a great deal of events on a regional basis.

At the first meet of the FOC-Florida this picture was taken of two Ferrari Chat Members, Hartmut 2nd from left and my wife and I. If you want to see some more pix you can go to the website. Again this is the Florida Chapter. There are different regions.
Here is the link and then follows the picture in the next frame!

Does anyone have any thoughts regarding which is the better Ferrari club to join...Ferrari Owners Club (FOC) or Ferrari Club of America (FCA)? Anyone a member of either who can comment regarding whether the membership is worth it?
