Whaaaaahahaahaa. I just missed you guys. I got there late. I had to work graveyard the night before, got home and took a nap. I didn't think you guys would leave so early. I got there about 1:00pm and everyone was just about gone. I think that there were about eight cars left when got there. Even though I missed it, it was still fun to see the cars that were still there briefly. Oh well next time.

I don't know if you guys are aware of this but there used to be a race at the Paramount Ranch. That long asphalt road ,that you drove in on towards the western set, after coming down the little hill, used to be the front straight of the track. They held two races back in the fifties, and the insurance company called it off after two people got killed. You can still see about 75-80% of the old track.

I agree on the track meet. It was getting dangerous with all the cars weaving in and out. My speeds were close to your except on PCH. I was doing 80. On sunset in Beverly Hills I "allegedly" hit about 100 at one point. I am suprised no one get nailed.

Matt...
driving up Beverly Dr - 360 and I got up over 70mph
stop to stop full on drag race
360 kicked my ass by 1 full car length

through Sunset - 40 to 70mph
balls out drive light to light
6 cars weaving

pch - top speed 120 mph
canyons - 20 to 60 mps -
all these numbers are close approximates
I wasn't concentrating on the gauges

next meet - I suggest lets take it to the track
safer and no ticket potentials

Tom,

Funny you should mention body shops. I was almost in a 360 sandwitch. From PCH to mulholland drive is a sharp right turn that is poorly marked. The 360 coupe broke hard and I had to turn to his right to keep from hitting him. The 360 spyder behind me broke hard and came within 3 feet of the 360 coupe. We all went all looked around and when pheeeww. That would be a tough call to the insurance company. The canyon roads were a one lane road prentending to be a two lane. It was an insane road being taken at crazy speeds.

I want to do it again!!

great pics, one thin kI always notice with these get togethers is there is always a part of the rally where you end up on a dirt/graval road:-( I think the body shop painters have a conspiracy going :-)

I agree Gene,

Crazy in the canyon. Did you see the 355 go up in flames? What was your speed on Sunset? We should get together soon. I was bummed I did not have a change to talk to Dave and you. I loved the sound of 35 v-8's and v-12's idling in Beverly Hills.

Wayne,

I can burn the footage on to a CD-ROM and send it out to people. I saw your friend at the exit when we were leaving.

The 330 was in great condition. Let me tell you, those guys drive and drive hard. Also the daytona showed up at the ranch. It was not at century city. the 275 made a pass along Motor ave before we left at 6000 rpm and it sounded like an f-1. There was a blond named Tambi that owned a 355 F1 Spyder that had tubi on. She could drive and the car was the loudest by far. Great, great drive. Carlos, the event co-organizer, had a red 308 (1st photo). He was driving hard on the stock 205/70 tires and outpacing the 360 coupe on the road from pch to paramount ranch. I would recommend that next time they have a drive to attend, it was a blast.

Dave, he was especially impressed by your car and spent quite a bit of time covering it from various angles. Let me see what I can do about getting the footage posted. If that fails, I will be sure to get a copy to you somehow.

Zack says it was shot in digital but he's not sure how to post it or make it available here. For those of you who are technically inclined, please e-mail me with any instructions and I will forward the instructions. The black GTC appeared to be completely restored. It can be seen in the distance in one of the photos below. The worst case will mean I'll have to post stills from the video.

Dave, very nice Boxer! I don't know if the red/black one belongs to anyone here or not but it sounded really rough on the video I saw. Also, I didn't see the Daytona Spyder. The video was only shot at Century City so I'm guessing it joined the group later?

BTY

dave's boxer is the all red one
Gene's 348 black 348 GTS looked better in person
My 308 is in the second (dark photo) between the 355 and the 360 spyder

I took some shots of the blue 512tr. Someone posted pics from the FOC norton simon drive and asked for somemore shots of it.

Dave,

I had a hard time taking pics at XXX mph on sunset. My hands were full. Our group was driving at a pretty fast clip. It was a blast. Lunch was not bad either. My car was the gray 308. I was pretty much next to the gray 360 and the red 360 spyder the whole time. Next time I should have my boxer. BTY, your car looked awsome.

M

Did anyone seen the 355 goe poof? I heard the story but i did not see how bad the damage was.

A friend of mine shot video. In addition to the cars listed, there was also a 330 GTC (black) and a 365 GT 2+2 (yellow). I don't know if I can post the video footage or not. We'll see.

Here are some pics from todays drive.
We started off in Century City. 35 f-cars in a "speed limited" drag race through the streets of Beverly Hills. The sound of the engines echoing off the building. We drove along sunset to PCH and then a calmer drive up the coast to paramount ranch. A good time was had with the exception of the 355 spyder that had a car-b-q on the drive. Always inspect your fuel lines....

a few 308's
1 328
3 360's
1 360 spyder
1 tr
2 512bbi's
1 275gtb/4
1 400i
a few 355 b/gts/spyders
1 mondial
1 365gts/4 daytona
a few 348's
a a couple of other models I could not identify
