Lou, If you give my dealer a call in the UK...011 44 1451 861051 (speak with Russell, tell him you are a friend of Jason Fraser), they'll tell you how to do it.....They have removed Stoneguard from my 360 nose twice (once due to the fact that the stoneguard got scratched, and then because I didn't like the way it was re-applied)....They didn't use a heat gun....Also, I seem to remember them saying that removing it was easy, but getting rid of the gluey residue was a pain in the ass (I believe they used a 3M product to get rid of it)...They're very nice people, and will be happy to advise you....If you feel more comfortable emailing, Russell's email is:- [email protected] Jason |

Lou Don't use a heat gun unless you have done it before, or you will burn your paint. A friend of mine has a tint shop, and what they do is called "sweating" the tint, or in your case the film. What you do is: 1)Cut a black trash bag to fit the area that you want covered. 2)Then spray the area with water, cover it with the back trash bag, that you cut to fit. 3)Next leave the car out in the sun for about 2-3 hours, or until the bag is good and hot. What this does is soften up the adhesive so that it comes off easier. 4)Using a steamer, not a heat gun, aim it at the film so that the steams is blowing on it, then slowly peel the film off. 5)Clean off any remaining adhesive using the steamer. 6)Your done. |

I have seen is removed with a heat gun the stuff is pretty strong so it doesn't rip just keep heating the leading edge and peeling it off. The whole things should come off as one big piece it will distort as you pull but should not rip. Should take you no more than 10 min to get if off the front bumper. Just don't over heat or the stoneguard will melt and than you won't be able to use the leading edge as a grip to peel off the rest. |

How do you remove the 3M film Stoneguard or Armourfend? Heat gun? Who has actually done it? Any problems? |
