I have Pirelli P7000s and they have been great. Relatively cheap and a hell of a lot better than my bridgestones were in both the dry and wet (huge difference here). They stick almost immediately and don't require the long warm ups some other tires have. I got 205/55 and 225/50, but next tires will probably be P7000s in 225/50 and 245/45 I think those are the right profiles, you can play with them a bit to make the tire fill the wheel well better, but I usually stay stock in that regard. But might as well go for the extra width as it fits no problem (and is actually installed at most dealerships if you bring your 308 there for tires). |

Thanks Dave. I called the Tire Rack and they too did not recommend the RE730 for the same reason. I am going to get either the Dunlop S8000 or the Pirelli P7000. Later tonight I will research the tires and then call my order in tomorrow.

I would NOT recommend the Bridgestone RE730. I am currently using them on my 308 (225-50-16 front and 245-45-16 rear) and find after 10,000 miles that they howl like the dickens on the freeway. If you go to www.tirerack.com and look at the user reviews on the RE730, you will see lot's of complaints about this. Doesn't happen to everyone, I have friends who are happily using this tire, but beware.... |

Ken, I have RE730s and really like them. They are a great tire for the price. |

The BF T/A KD's are great tires. They have excellent traction. |

The Bridgestone S03 is a great tire if they make it in that size. Check with Tire Rack. |

My 1985 308 QV is in need of new tires. I will be using the car only on nice days, so rain and snow are not a concern. I would like a tire that is rated for at least 20K miles and is not prone to flat spotting. Track events are also not a big concern. Most of my driving will be on the street with the rare track event. The tire sizes I need are 205/55/16 and 225/50/16. What does the group recommend for a good tire? A friend of mine recommended the Bridgestone RE730. I would like to stay around $100 a tire since I will not really benefit from a higher priced tire. TIA. |
