I have Tubi on my 93 512TR & with no cats the sound is a Ferrari symphony The stock exhaust is ugly & way too quiet. u might need earplugs with the tubi, but what an awesome sound |

Steve, yes it has an o2 sensor mount,it's BARELY visable in the lower pic. Btw, I have seen the CAT back Borla sys (almost looks like the stock system). My 4 can Borla is built for NO cats (it's piped straight from the headers). Next thing I'm going to try is NO mufflers/cats at all, just straight pipes out to tips. -Ben |

Ya, I have Nick's pipes, it's the pics on the left. They are a perfect match on the TR. Very easy to install, fits perfect with moving flange on 1 side. He also has gaskets for them. The has the O2 sensor mount and the thermocoupler hookup. The locations are pretty much at the exact same locations. Since with the moving flange (just the like original cats) you can roatate it where it fits exactly where you want it. I am very happy with the pipes. James |

What do you guys think about ANSA exhauset systems, I found a guy who has a used Tubi but he is asking $2650.00 for it, which I think is pretty high. I spoke to Nick and I think I am going to buy his Bypass pipes, anyone have this on their car. I am thinking of using the Bypass pipes and using either a Tubi or ANSA, Nick told me that if I go with a Borla it will be load (very) |

Ben -- thanks for posting the jpegs (the large diameter one is for the TR). The small male fitting that shows up clearly in the jpegs is for the thermocouple (although with no cat "brick", any unburned fuel wouldn't self-ignite anyway) -- was there a second larger female fitting on the other end? |

Steve, I'm pretty sure James has Nick's pipes on his car Here are 2 pics of the pipes, that I took when I met Nick about a month ago. One fits injected 3x8s and TR's the other one is for Carb'ed 3x8s (now if you wanted me to remember which is which, uh well...) Hope this helps. -Ben Check out the welds:

James -- Can you describe your "track pipes" a bit more. Are the O2 sensor fittings in about the same location (i.e., just protruding internally into the gas stream at the inlet of the "test pipe")? TIA |

I have a 90 TR with precatsbored out and track pipes in place of the main cats. Also have Tubi. So the exact same setup you are describing. It does sound much much better if you bore out the precats and put pipes in the main cat. I did the mods at different times. 1st - Tubi. A little louder, but not too much like Steve described. 2nd - Tubi and Bore out precat. Slightly louder at lower RPMs, flows more freely, still have maincats. 3rd. All in - Tubi, no precats, track pipes. Sounds sweet, at all rpm range, especially full throttle. It's pretty loud on the freeway. I still have to compare notes with Ben. He has the Borla setup, no cats as well. Oh, ya K&N helps a little, more gulp. Only noticed it the very first time I put it in, didn't think the thing can suck so much volume!! James Damn no more spell check?? Now I'll sound more like a fool. |

Argyle -- I paid $1,850 + shipping (circa June 2000) for the used TR Tubi, but even ~$2K would be more than fair IMHO. Like you, the "new" Tubi price is such that I probably would have seriously considered ANSA or Stebro or ? if I hadn't (luckily) stumbled into this particular used Tubi on eBay. |

How much did the used Tubi cost you, if you don't mind me asking, you want just tell me the price range if you don't want me to know how much you paid for it. I also read about ANSA exhaust, which is about half the price, how does it compare |

Get rid of all the cats and pre-cats and run a straight tube from the engine to the back...here is your sound!

What should the price of a used Tubi be |

No, but was wondering if the price difference is worth the time to look for one. I don't think I am going to remove the cat and pre-cat. |

Argyle -- I put a (used) Tubi on my '91 and like it a lot (looks + sound), but don't expect a drastic performance difference (still, a few extra HP on tap isn't a bad thing). The overall "acoustics" are going to depend a lot on what's upstream on any particular TR exhaust. When I first installed it with both the precats and cats in place (i.e., US version), it was still very quiet at low RPM ,and (like the stock silencer) only really started making a (wonderful) ruckus at mid-high RPM. Removing the precats (i.e., CAT version) brought up the low end sound some (and made the high end even sweeter), but it's still way below anything I would consider "loud". The loudest configuration would be sans precats and cats, but I have no experience with this set-up. Do you have a lead on a used one? |

Hey guys I was wondering if any of you have a Tubi on a Testarossa. Will adding a Tubi to a TR really make a difference in sound and performance. Is buying a used Tubi a good idea and anything I should look for when looking at a used Tubi. I am also thinking of getting a K&N filter for it. Thanks |
