the guy is here in houston. since his last auction, i have found a friend who's father "knows" this guy and plays "poker" with him frequently. the guy has several high-end cars and my friend doesn't know what he does. he has supposedly decided to start spending money on mercedes, his original love, rather than other high end cars. he bought an amg (i can't remeber which model, but think it was an sl55) and has decided to liquidate his current collection. it seems to me that if someone was going to start collecting another high-end marque, that they should trade in their other high-end cars on the newer cars. this would allow them to benefit from a tax credit. instead, this guy is selling his cars for wholesale or below on ebay. it doesn't make sense. he also has a 550 barchetta, so i don't know if it will appear shortly. my advise, based on the fact that he isn't responding to emails, is to stear clear. something doesn't seem right if a guy is knowingly willing to leave money on the table. |

here's the original thread: http://server.ferrarichat.com/~ferrari/ferrarichat.com/discus/messages/21/167335.html same car. same guy. see my post in that original thread on my not encouraging experiences with him. clearly he needs to firesale this thing - whether for good reason or bad. it's not unusualy to put a "silly low" reserve price on a high-ticket item to guarantee you'll hit it and hopefully juice the bidders to compete more brutally. it's one thing to raise your bet when reserve isn't met, it's another when reserve is met. doody. |
