Hi all.
To answer your questions Eric...
1) If parts are not put into the shopping basket even though you have attempted to add them, this means either one of two things. Firstly that the number is normally stocked and that we have simply run out of stock, or that the part number has never been stocked by us. This doesn't necessarily mean that we are unable to obtain said part however. It is our intention to try and supply anything for which there is a demand, although sometimes this can be difficult or downright impossible! We'll always try though !
2) Once the parts are in your shopping basket and you have sent the basket to us this means that the system has carried out a 'live' stock availability check on our inventory system and that the parts are physically there on the shelf. The next thing that will happen will be someone from Ferrari UK will contact you to let you know the shipping costs and details. It is then up to you how or if you proceed. We have to do it this way because we could be sending anything anywhere and it is virtually impossible to do an auto-calculation for shipping. It also gives the customer a 'cooling-off' period too.

I hope this info helps.

Regards.

JH

Daniel,
Keep us posted on how that parts order works out. I recently had my clock repaired on my 328, and with shipping (both ways)it ran to about $125. The dealer (USA) said new clocks were no longer available, but their they are on the website, for about the same price...

Watch for the shipping charges, somebody in the UK ordered something and in the end the price was more than doubled with postage and packing

Jeff -- thank you for providing some insight to the parts website. It will serve to provide a useful outlet to Ferrari owners, especially those (like myself) who are looking for hard-to-find original parts for their older F-cars.

Hopefully, you might can answer a couple other questions I had in regard to the parts ordering process...

-- When parts do not appear in the "shopping basket", then I assume they are not available or non-existant?

-- Parts in the shopping basket are available for shipping, or do we wait for Parts.UK to contact us on this matter before deciding to purchase?

Good to know that the shopping basket is persistant though -- I'll try the "checkout" process again and let you know what happens.

Sorry to hear some of you are having timeout issues.

There is a session timeout mechanism so when the session expires on the Owners' site while browsing the Classic Parts site, the users are redirected to the login page on the Owners' site.

This will typically happen when the user stays on the same page for a few minutes without refreshing.

A solution to this would be to disable this mechanism, so the session on the Owners' site is not maintained when browsing the Classic Parts site. Thedrawback of doing so is that the user will be likely to have to log on again when clicking on "Back to Owners' site".

Either way, the shopping basket is persistent, so all the items should be still there when the user comes back.

Thanks Barney...nice to know that others have had the same problems too...thought it was something I was doing wrong. Keep us posted if you get any feedback from them in that regard -- and I'll do likewise.

Eric, same here. I contacted them via e-mail a few times with other problems with their site. I must say that they were very quick and efficient in responding and solving the problems. When I had the same experience as you ordering parts they said they were looking into it. If past performance is a gauge, then I am sure it will be fixed soon.

I have not tried. They have enough parts to build an entire car. Prices are not that bad.

Matt...I was just pondering whether or not to inquire about the Vintage Spare Parts portion of the owners.ferrari site. I tried to order several items from the parts portal, but when I tried to "Check Out" the site "kicked me out" back to the home login page for owners.ferrari -- rather frustrating to say the least, especially after viewing several pages of parts tables just to find what I needed. Then it wouldn't let me back in! Anyone have any luck ordering parts via their site? Just curious.
