Bart, you'll have a blast at Laguna Seca. As I mentioned earlier, take your wife so she can enjoy Carmel... score a few extra points! BTW, just noticed your wife gave you this for your b-day... you're a lucky man! My wife gave me the racing school for my 40th... 7 years ago... ouch!!! Post an update when you return. Good luck... and start thinking "CORK-SCREW"!!! http://www.laguna-seca.com/map2.htm |

As always, I thank you for your comments. According to my rough tally, it appears that LS is the crowd favorite. Thanks for the recap davem. Ross, BobD,JohnR et al, thanks for the color. Now i can't wait. I can see future tuition money heading S. Barber's way. Bart |

bart, i took the 3 day racing course years ago at bridgehampton which was great fun, and looked a lot more interesting than the plain driving courses. by chance i was at daytona a few weeks ago and saw a skip barber class in action around the oval, and it did actually look interesting enough, but maybe for a 'next time'. i concurr with the others, go to sebring then sign up for the 3 day course somewhere else to try it out. |

I'm a Skip Barber Grad 2001..Laguna Seca...Nothing like the cork screw. Just don't leave the track feeling too confident. CHP hang out waiting for all the Mario Andretti's to get good lap times home. |

Yes, definitely the racing school. That's what I did. To properly learn heel'n'toe we did use Neons though for a short while (lapped the track several times) so that the instructor could watch our footwork while sitting next to us. However that was no walk in the park either, we got those Neons squealing pretty good. As Skip said: Only a squealing tire is a happy tire... |

Howie, I agree w/ your second line below. I did the 3-day Russell Racing School (Formula Ford) when it was still at Laguna Seca (now at Sears Point). I was so excited I couldn't sleep.... like a kid! Shumi, also correct... I recommend the racing school, not the driving school. |

Did the three day at Road America in WI. Beautiful track and great class. Lots to learn and lots of fun. On the second day it rained, so instead of waiting in the class room, the instructors jumped at the chance of getting us rookies broken in to wet conditions. What a blast that was! I was doing well in the wet, but sure enough once the track dried I got a bit overenthusiastically in my braking, spun and clipped a wall. Front right suspension damaged. They were very cool about it. Explained the mistake to me, immediately gave me a fresh car and the mechanics (who are race mechanics apprentices in their own 'school') were happy to fix something. After the dust settled during the lunch break I went to the garbage bin and fished for my broken suspension parts. They're now part of my 'trophy' collection. Anyway, a great class and I'm planning on doing the advance program next summer. |

I did the three day at Laguna Seca last year and had a great time. The course is awesome and the weather terrific. Hotels are a little pricey though. You might consider up-grading to the three day racing school. I saw the driving school and they drove Neons around the parking lot. |

I did the Skip Barber course at Lime Rock back when they used Formula Fords. It was a fantastic experience. The worst thing about the course were the two sleepless nights afterwards from being so hyped up, not to mention being sore and bruised. |

Bart, Laguna Seca is absolutely the best. Maybe it's because I live about a mile and a half from the track. If u come out here hook up with me up and I can show you around. If you need a place to stay my house is always open to F car people. |

Did the 3 day at Limerock, great fun in those little open-wheeled formula jr. cars. My only disappointments: did no skid pad work, and didn't get to blast around in the vipers, but i learned alot, got humiliated a few times, found it truly exhilerating, it was, like 100 degrees F. on the days in was there, i lost weight, i had alot of bruises from the tight frame of the car (and, i guess, my less than tight frame, if you get what i mean), and alot of this stuck with me in more subliminal ways. I mean, i didn't directly apply what i learned immediately, on the street, but that was probably a good thing, not doing four wheel drifts into the parking garage. Go for it! |

I paid $1100 for the 2 day driving school at Skip. Our schedules were flexible so we called few days before to book so we had nice weather an small class which gave us more seat time. Also saved say 10% since we had a small group an it was last minute. |

Ummm... this is something i always wanted to do but figured i would never have the money... several months ago, i saw something on Speedvision about something similar to this, only with Lamborghinis... they said the entire package was under 10k... something like this must be considerably cheaper... anyone knows the rates for the 1, 2 & 3 days...? |

Bart. I did the 2-day driving school at Lime Rock. Loads of fun. The 1-day school you are talking about wont include the full road course at Daytona in any event. You will do some skidpad in the Dodge p/u, then learn emergency manuevers an then a brief stint in the Viper in a abbreviated course. Food for thought if you think you might want to go back for more sign up for the 2-day course which is a prequisite for more course's including the racing school. |

Laguna is the best, but Grant Maiman is still with Skip Barber till February, before he leaves for Formula Reneault in Europe. He is currently in Florida, at Daytona. I can see if he can go to Sebring. www.grantmaiman.com |

I would do the one day at Sebring, then after you have been bitten by the "bug", sign up for the 3 day racing school, and come vist us the left coast people at Laguna. The differnce in tracks will be amazing as well. I did the 3 day there, and it was unbelivable. Best experince ever, and greatest HS graduation present ever.

My wife gave me a certificate for the one day skip barber driving school for my birthday. I am entitled to goto either daytona, lime rock, laguna seca, road america or sebring. Since I live in orlando, daytona is the closest, but the idea of driving nascar style bores me to death. Has anyone attended this school - and if so, does the location matter? Would you recommend one over the other. Thanks in advance. |
