Tillman, that's really nice. I too derive great joy from letting others sit in my car when they check it out at the track. Children are my favorite. We may take it for granted that we have these cars, but I know what it took me to be in the position I am in. The joy children and grownups alike get from sitting in it, while beaming for the photo is great. And what does it take from me? Nothing, just to be a normal, friendly person who understands what a thrill these cars bring to others.
As they say in Australia...good on ya mate!

Martin, I think this is what you're referencing:

Joe Martz's "My Personal Code of Conduct as an Owner of an Exotic Automobile."

1. My cars will always be clean and well presentable. I will ensure that my cars are in the highest state of mechanical condition and maintenance. Exotics are indeed rare, and to see one is a special experience. I have an obligation to present these cars to others at a high standard.

2. I will always be polite, courteous, and friendly. I will not talk down to or ignore anyone, and I will cheerfully answer all questions. Exotic owners wrongly suffer from a "snob" label. By actively and always countering this, I will strive to change this perception among all whom I meet.

3. Where feasible, I will encourage inspection and observation of my cars. If someone is clean and courteous, I will encourage them to sit in my cars. I will actively encourage photographs. In particular, I will encourage this among younger children. On occasion, I will offer rides to admirers under the appropriate circumstances.

4. With one exception (see 5, below), I will obey all traffic laws or local traffic customs. Especially, I will pass other cars only in marked, safe passing zones, and I will always respect traffic speeds and noise ordinances within city limits. I will always drive in a defensive manner to protect myself and my vehicle. I will not initiate nor will I respond to challenges to race my cars on open public roads.

5. Operating my cars as God, Enzo, and Ferruccio intended will occur only on open, rural routes free of heavy traffic or on appropriately designated race courses. On public highways, I will use my highest powers of observation and diligence to ensure that I place myself, my vehicles, and the public in no additional danger. I will be aware of the environment and road conditions, and I will not drive at excessive speeds on unknown or suspect roads. When approaching blind corners or hills, I will assume that an obstacle exists and will take appropriate defensive measures.

6. I will share my passion and excitement for exotic cars with others through community service and charitable events. I will actively seek out community organizations such as local police departments and schools and offer my cars for use in events such as DARE programs, homecoming parades, pep rallies, etc. Many communities have "Make a Wish" foundations for sick children. If given the opportunity, I will offer a day with myself and my cars to such organizations in an effort to brighten an otherwise trying life for someone less fortunate than I.

7. I will be honest and open with other enthusiasts, and I will accurately represent my cars to prospective owners and buyers. I will keep complete records, and I will always follow up with purchasers of my cars to ensure that they continue to gain maximum satisfaction and appreciation for cars that I have owned and serviced.

8. I will always have a smile on my face when inspecting, driving, or showing my cars to others. I will never forget how fortunate I've been to own such automobiles and I will constantly remind myself that the future is uncertain, and that today may be as good as it gets.

I doubt they were actually street racing, just doing some spirited driving.

If you frequent nsxfiles.com or corner carvers, you will see that these guys will not tolerate any type of street racing or behaviour that puts others at risk in any way whatsoever.

If I'm not mistaken, Paul and Doug are responsible for setting up the Open Track Challenge event.

puts a smile on my face and the thought of street racing a big sad face.

Which club had the 10 commandmands posted for exotic car ownership?

sorry to be the one spoiling the moment here but this race needs to go to the track at least nobody else can get hurt.:-(

I don't want to spoil the ending...but rumor has it the two Ferrari drivers are still lost after being taken down to Chinatown numerous times by the lowly German car. If it makes you guys feel any better, I'm sure the results would've been the same if I were in my 550....or even my lowly Dodge for that matter.

I'm just glad Chris and his F40 are stuck in Kansas...we don't need that car here ruining our good time!

Oh, and by the way...it's not Mumzer, nor Pual, it's PMUM...Mr. Mumford if you're nasty!

My money on the best driver with the biggest balls. Otherwise the Porsche probably has the edge if it's a turbo. I can't tell, I only know Ferraris. I'm not up on my VW's.

Willis,

You caught me :-), I love all of you guys, but I still get kicks out of trying to stir it up a bit...but in a fun way.

All 3 drivers of the cars are VERY experienced. Just go to nsxfiles.com to read some of the stories about these guys.

Hubert,
You are right, thats Pauls new pimpy ride. I'm not sure if he still has the viper, but I heard he has had this 996 on the track and it kicking ass in it. Wayne Mello has the 360, he tracks a radically modified 944 turbo.

It's a Boxster w/a wing and a hardtop and the driver is not very good (and a cheater, to boot).

>>Is that a Boxster with the hardtop in the middle?<<

Ernesto,

No way, man. It's a karman ghia!

I've been to a few track events w/ Doug Hayashi, and the boy can drive, I mean he can really drive. BTW- Mumzer? Is that for Paul Mumford, if it is, tracks a Viper, he's an amazing driver as well.

If that's a GT2 and the driver's pretty good, then it's probably the winner. GT2 cost more too, right?

James, you just love to stick it to us Ferrari drivers, don't you? :-)

The owners of these 3 cars are very well known in the Orange County, California car scene. Doug Hayashi(NSX files), Mumzer(Corner Carvers) and Wayne Mello(NSX Files).

I won't post the results of the race (which consisted of numerous straight and twisty road sections) for fear of starting yet another argument.
