DES,

I've used this method for a few years and have never experienced a problem. I do however get the car just on the trailer then drop the tongue and then pull to the desired position. Several of my friends have done this for years with no problems.

I put a 308 on their tow dolly. You need a jack to get the dolly ramps back up then it's good to go.

Thanks Fred & everybody else. I had DAS bring my car from CT to FL. No place to store my rig here in Miami so I left it up in CT.
Fred i think your trailer will probably be too high but thanks for the offer

Where are you located?

My friend has a double axle utility trailer that is used for landscaping and hauling bobcat tractors. I can take it whenever I want to. It will definitely hold the weight of the car. Width, I am not sure about, but you can try and/or measure. If you just need it for a day, I'm sure you could borrow it for a ride in the TR.

I'm in Weston, FL. The trailer is in Parkland, FL.

No William, the U Hauls are 74'' wide and your TR is wider than that!

Uhauls suck! Bad tires surge brakes. Beat to ! Don't waste your time. Get a decent trailer. Towing a Ferrari on a u HELL is like a convicted sex offender babysiting your kids?

Bart...
wouldn't the weight of the car (and the person in it) collapse the tongue jack...?

William too bad you are in FL I would loan you one of my trailers. How did you get your TR to CA?

Anyway, drive up to KC and pick one up!

See you at Cavallino

I rented one of these in August for my 308 and there is no way a T would have fit between the fender wells. I did the trailer jack thing to lessen the angle combined with lumber.

Does a U-Haul have a tongue Jack? If not use an automotive one. While the trailer is attached to the tow vehichle jack the tongue up as high as it will go (will raise the rear of the tow vehicle). This will drop the trailing edge of the trailer further minimizing the ramp angle and also flatten out the crest of where the ramps meet the trailer.

William - Got Matt's drift? You take the lumber to build a "ramp" to the trailer ramp to lessen the angle...otherwise you'll bottom out. 2 X 10 would be easier to drive up on..

It's too low. You are going to need some 2x4 lumber.
