Raleigh, The 355 Challenge cars can be bought in the secondary market, either from Ferrari dealers or through non-dealers. Several of us on this forum have 355 or 360 Challenge cars. The 355 is no longer eligible for the Challenge series having been excluded after 2001. The only classes that the car is eligble for in SCCA is either T1 or ITE (East Coast classification). You could also run the car in Grand Am or ALMS in GT class or in the Speed World Challenge GT series. Unfortuntally it wouldn't be very competitive in anything other than T1 in SCCA. Also not a very inexpensive car to run. Prices range from 100K - 80K depending on how much it's been raced and crash history. Some badly crashed cars with tired motors have sold for under 80K but you wouldn't want to race one of those. A bit hard to find good 355 C's since most have been sold to folks who use them as track cars and they are no longer being produced. My car may be for sale in a few months if the market rebounds a bit and prices come up a little. Regards, Jon P. Kofod 1995 F355 Challenge #23

The Challenge series is 'dealers only', they were afraid of losing control to Independent Race Teams and how bad it would look on them if outsiders started winning.. Not positive, but the 355's could be done or 1 more year max. |

I may have a client interested in investing cash to start a small race team with a 355 Challenge car. Where should I look? |
