Kenneth: The 456 has to be *the* prettiest production ferrari in a long time. I would love to own one. I wonder what the 460 (?) will be like - I hope it's not a bastardization of the car. I thought the 575 ruined the front of the 550, but in person it looks much cleaner than it's predecessor. --Dan |

William, Don't let age be a factor. I'm 21, and prefer the car at my age. --Dan |

I agree, too. That is why my first Ferrari is a 456 and not a 360. |

"This car is capable in spades, moreso than myself, I'd reckon - but unlike it's younger, wilder counterparts, it doesn't go about flashing and screaming "here I am, look at me." Instead, it carries an 'ahem' to pass here and there." Dan, couldn't agree with you more. Ernesto |

Dan I agree, the 550 is a good foil for the vanquish or a Bentley, maybe I'm just not there yet Maybe sometime on the other side of 40 I'll be ready for that. Meanwhile I cant resist the pull of my Italian Sex machine |

Toyota Camry and 550 comparison. That's not comparing "apples and oranges", That's comparing a "hamburger to a steak." |

The gentlemanly subtlety and refinement of the 550/575 is what makes it so terribly attractive. This car is capable in spades, moreso than myself, I'd reckon - but unlike it's younger, wilder counterparts, it doesn't go about flashing and screaming "here I am, look at me." Instead, it carries an 'ahem' to pass here and there. Pozzi blue most perfectly defines this car, with titanio following closely behind. For red, seek other models. Waiting is the hardest part. --Dan |

Compared to the 512TR the 550 is very sedate but its still an attractive elegant car, its just not a spaceship/italian sex machine More like your Dad's Ferrari WSJ dont know their azz from their elbows about cars |

I'm cancelling all my car magazine subscriptions and from now on will depend on the WSJ for all car info. |

here's the full text on the 575. i'm a big WSJ fan, but they really should stick to the business news :-) no coat hooks! ROTFLMAO. these people! doody. Ferrari Maranello $231,525 WHAT'S COOL: It's a Ferrari. WHAT'S NOT: It wasn't red. WHAT HAPPENED: Of course you can get this in red, but our tester was titanium gray. ("A more mature color," a spokesman says.) Appearance-wise, the Maranello is a throwback to the '60s, when a sports car was judged by the length of the hood and size of the engine. (This one has 12 cylinders, 515 HP.) But tooling around in our quarter-million-dollar car, we wondered: Would anyone recognize this thing? So we parked out front of a New Jersey luncheonette and started tallying. "From a block away, I knew it was a Ferrari," one passerby said, his dog sniffing our tires. "Looks like a Celica to me," said restaurant owner Raymond Baduch, guessing it would run us, oh, 80 large. Ouch. But the real question we had: Where's the stick shift? Turns out you change gears with two little paddles on the steering column. It may look cool, but we got bored even though race-car drivers swear by it. Our only other complaint: No coat hooks. "If you own this car, you're having your dry cleaning delivered," a spokesman said.

Heres another quote "tooling around in our quarter million dollar car we were wondering if anybody would recognize this thing. Parked in front of a restaurant and the owner thought it was a Celica." These guys are not car experts, probably just got assigned the story. Their comment on the Porsche GT2 "The bargain of the bunch, but looks a lot like the $70k 911 your dentist drives". They loved it that it had cup holders!! Their favorite? The lambo Mercielago because of its "outrageous shape and impressive-looking engine". These guys need to stick to reviewing Enron's PE ratio. |

I don't think it's fair to say that the Japanese can't build a car like the Maranello... but yes, it's sure impressive... A pure bred V12 GT from Ferrari... what more could you want? A Camry?! I think NOT! |

The acceleration and handling of the 550 is absolutely fantastic! Even in their wildest dreams the japanese could never build a car like that. |

I think that must be their way of saying WOW fantastic, unbelivable car while appealing to the affluent but lazy owner crowd.. Except for the F-40's which are completely different, the 550's are likely the most impressive cars I've ever driven. |

Wall Street article on exotic cars bottom line on the 550 "Comfortable, easy to drive and-for this crowd anyway-conservative, it could be the Toyota Camry of supercars". OUCH! |
