Martin,

Imagine what's going to happen when they find out what you really do for a living and how much money you blow at Rachels every night.
By the way do Porn stars get a professional discount there?

Thanks Bruce,
that makes me want to quit today. I imagine that would be the first 2-3 days, right?

So I start working on Wednesdays from now on :-)

William,
maybe time to make a $325K commitment! Feb is the date. Think you want to give it a try?

Thanks Art,
now I can sleep much better :-(

The F40 is am LM and is the last one built. It is one of 2 made with opush rod/rocker arm suspension and is one one of 19 total LM ever produced.

The car sounds great. The description is as professional as a dealer can possibly make it. Wonder if they have to deal with this kind of product too often!

William,
this would be a bad ass car for you but too dangerous for the rest of us being on the track with you at the same time. So you would be lapping me 3 times....in one lap!
:-)

How do you bring an audit upon yourself? Or is it a largely arbitrary thing?

Art, You are right. I was audited once myself and it was a b-tch. They obviously have him in their computer at a buttons touch.

That's why all my tax info is sent directly to my accounting firm. That is the address of record. It will make your heart skip a beat.

I once got a certified letter from the IRS. The heart rate and BP clearly shot up. It turned out they just wanted info on a customer that I had no record of.

Martin,
Good luck on the Ferrari, but like everyone else said- watch out for those damn bastards...

Someone else started a different thread regarding the elimination of luxury tax on automobiles, starting January, 2003 and i just got a letter in the mail today from the bank, explaining to me all of the finer tax changes that will be affecting my IRA... like it hasn't gone down, enough... the IRS and the republicans are in cohootz to rain on my parade, i swear...

Martin:

The letter just shows that they've already been watching you. They knew enough to send you the letter, you can just guess about what else they know about you. Think about that for a while.

I was audited from about 1980 through 1996, once you get past the 1st one, they rest are relatively easy.

Fred,

That is exactly my thinking, and the reason to stay away at any price.

So, the IRS is selling a F-40?

Does the winning bidder automatically get audited?

Things like that can cause you to lose the friendship of your laundry service and require an immediate trouser change!

Yeah, i got a postcard about a certified letter from them last week. Turned out, when i picked the thing up at the post office the next morning, that they were threatening urgent action over an allegedly unpaid penalty of 240 dollars from some long past tax year. I gladly wrote the check (again, since i'm sure they had already been paid for this before, but, in a way it was a blessing)

sent me a letter to Cavallino Motors on IRS letterhead. All IRS mail gets your heart beating higher. So I open the letter and....

... the contact me to offer the Ferrar F40LM in the auction to me. Damn, there should be a big stamp on IRS mail that says "this is an offering not an audit!"
