I agree with you folks. I also heard about it that they were using a darker red on past racers which is similar to rosso barchetta. If i'm not mistaken , 125S shown in Galleria Ferrari also has that colour. |

The F1 cars certainly were a darker red than they are these days. My favourite bit from the film 'La Passione' is when the young lad is watching the Ferrari's at Le Mans with his dad on a black & white TV. The lad says "What colour are those cars Daddy?". His dad holds up a glass of red wine and says "Red son. Blood red.". The F1 cars are almost orange now because they show up better on TV and it pleases Marlboro. I guess if my daughter asked me "What colour are those cars Daddy?", I'd say "Red girl. Sunny Delight Red!"!

Nice comparison photo, Amir. Corsa is in the front and Barchetta is in the back, right? |

From what i have herd is that rosso barchetta was the color used on ferrari race cars during the 1960's, not sure if it was the first red used by ferrari though.. BTW here is a pic of my rosso barchetta along with a rosso corsa 355 355. |

I've been told that Rosso Barchetta was actually the original Ferrari Red, and Rosso Corsa came about later with new paint technology that allowed the brighter color. Do any of our historians know for sure? |
