To see Roland's Pheonix in person is really great. Roland came to our Ferrari French Quarter event in New Orleans (see LA chat group for photos), and ablsolutely raced the heck out of it with no problems. We blasted down the hwy with our 50 Ferrari's in tow and a LA. State Trooper escort at 140 mph plus. Roland is a great guy and an accomplished driver. Great "from the ashes" story.

My Lola won a CanAM race in 1966 at that course driven by Mark Donohue.

The road course in Kent, Washington was the site of many Trans-Am, Can-Am and USSRC battles in the Sixties.

Oh yes, there is a road course! It has a reputation for eating cars for lunch, so you have to be careful out there, but it is a lot of fun to drive!

The biggest road racing events I know of are the vintage races in July and September. There are some awesome cars and great racing. The SOVREN web site already has the announcement for July 4-6, 2003. Check it out:

Didn't an other F40 meet a similar fate around the same time at Portland International raceway?

I didn't know there was a road course in Seattle!

Anybody know what the largest event they host is?

I don't think so Martin. The guy from ferrarif40.de tells the story of how he obtained his crashed f40. He actually was on the Autobahn right then when the accident happened right in front of him.

Would that be Roland Linder from germany that has the www.ferrarif40.de website?

they just promoted a dvd with the process being documented. definetely a good thing to have for a F40 owner.

Hugh, Roland is one of my best friends.

His F40 started off as street F40 (I suspect the car in question) Roland bought it before it went to the crusher after it had burned to the ground.

Roland's car carries some of the modifications of an LM, but it is more stock than LM.

Roland enjoys a little liberty with the description of his car and when approached on the subject, he will be first to devulge its humble origins...

But, Roland can drive it as fast as LM drivers!

That is most horific. Such a beauty to be destroyed shows us what we have is only temporary.

>>This must be the car Roland Linder purchased and modified.............<<

Learn something new everyday. I thought it could have been an actual LM. Guess I was wrong.

That happened a number of years ago. I spoke with the owner about 3 months afterwards. He was still a little depressed about it (duh!).

O-U-C-H-H-H-H !!! F-40's are 'bad' and can definately bite you in the ass when they come on. That unfortunate owner found out the hard way.
